University of Vienna Announces New International Legal Studies LL.M.

Program "ideally located" in the home city of several international organizations

Nov 27, 2006

The University of Vienna (Universität Wien) recently announced that it will be offering a new International Legal Studies LL.M. program beginning in 2007. Founded in the 14th century, the University of Vienna is the oldest university in the German-speaking world, and is in close proximity to the many key international organizations - such as International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), and the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) - that are headquartered in Vienna.

The university says that the new LL.M. program "focuses on current problems and new developments in international law, such as the interaction of governments and other key players on the international level."

Throughout the one-year program, students take courses from four modules - Fundamental Issues of International Law, International Economic Law, International Organizations, and International Dispute Settlement, as well as write a thesis.

All classes are taught in English. The application deadline is March 1, 2007.
