Manfred Nowak to Speak at LSE on Human Rights on December 7
Free public lecture from the UN Special Rapporteur on TortureNov 30, 2006
On December 7, to mark International Human Rights Day, the London School of Economics (LSE) will be hosting a lecture from Professor Manfred Nowak, the current UN Special Rapporteur on Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment. Prior to this position, he worked as a judge at the Human Rights Chamber for Bosnia-Herzegovina in the aftermath of the conflict. He also co-directs the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Human Rights at the University of Vienna, and chairs the European Master's Degree in Human Rights and Democratization in Venice.
The lecture begins at 6:30pm in LSE's Old Theatre. It is free and open to the public, but those interested are advised to arrive 20-30 minutes early to maximize their chances of getting in.
