Estate Planning Certificate Available at Georgetown from Fall 2007
New course can be taken alone or as part of the taxation LL.M. programOct 9, 2006
Georgetown University Law Center (GULC) is offering a new Certificate of Study in the field of Estate Planning beginning in the Fall term of 2007. According to the Georgetown Law website, the course will be available as a stand-alone course, or as part of the current LL.M. program in Taxation. The course consists of three required courses and one related elective.
To qualify for the course, all students must have already completed a basic law course in federal individual income taxation.
"Top-notch estate planners must acquire not only technical expertise (for example, in tax law, decedents’ estates, employee benefits, and charitable giving), but also the client-relations skills that are essential to this individualized area of practice," says the school website about the new certificate program. "Adjunct faculty, all leading experts in their fields, draw on their wealth of practical experience to equip our students with these skills."
