Hi there,

I'm highly interested to do an LL.M. in Intellectual Property Law. Which Law School do you recommend?

I recommend browsing through some other posts regarding this matter (some are very insightful). Just search the board on this subject. On the other hand, I would recommend Stanford, Harvard, Berkeley, Columbia, NYU, George Washington, Duke, Cardozo, BU, Houston, and Franklin Pierce, probably in that order. Please notice however, that not all of the above are IP specific programs, and then again, it would all depend on the area of specialization you seek to pursue within IP Law.

Dear Timbo, I may suggest that the first question to be asked is if you want to be an advocate of the ip system as it is, and become rich as a lawyer, or if you want to join those who defend a balancing in this same system, work with policymaking and academic research, and strive for including the developing world in the information society. If your situation is the latter, I would recommend that you prioritize Stanford, Yale and Duke. If you want to add a bit more IT component in your research, I would recommend that you take a look at the Berkman Centre (Harvard). If you don't want to study in the US, I would add to this same group the Australian National University, and the University of Ottawa, in Canada. Of course the other Universities mentioned in this thread are all excellent in the study of ip Law. But those I mentioned above are the strongest in what you can call the right of access to knowledge, or simply "A2K".

thanks a lot for sharing your insights and experience.
Since I as a law student from germany am not yet familiar with the U.S. law schools, now you've given me some schools about which I should obtain further information.
