Anyone doing their LLM in Germany - the atmosphere ill be electric!

My hope is ITALY. My dream is AUSTRALIA.

I guess...maybe England or Italia...since the venue is Europe this time...more chance is with a European team, as shown in the past...Ausralia may get in the semi-final only if Guus Hiddink continues to lead the team...

Though it may not be a proper thread to post here, I think it is meaningful to have this kind of rest since this board is open to people around the world and no doubt the World Cup is another global event!!!

Since I am not in charge anymore, definitely not the Germans :-)

I would say Brazil, but we have been in the finals since 1994 (3 times in a row). What are the odds for a 4th time? Slim... Anyway, it is Brazil or Germany, I think.

Thanks for the support, astroturf! I hope so, too, but have to admit, that the German team did not do too well in the last matches.

However, Klinsmann (the coach) and Bierhoff (the team manager) were both great footballers and know how to guide the team. The players in the current team are very young and motivated - so maybe they will beat the expectations!

I know one thing. It wont be Scotland :( I hope that Costa Rica will do well. I think a Europe team will win it this year, but in these big tournaments nothing is ever certain - except that my home country not winning, because they haven't qualified.

Because:

1. They have a culture of winning (visit the pages of history in football)

2. They are the host nation

3. They have a good TOURNAMENT TEAM

4. Mr. Ballack is in top form (he is is the highest scorer among elite central midfielders)

Germany definetely is strong, not much out of its team , but the country will host the competition.Besides,the soccer buzz need a european champion to boost it.

As far as I'm aware, Senegal are not qualified for this year's tournament, right? So France defrinitely has a chance to win!

I was in Frankfurt yesterday to see England play Paraguay, and I have to say England did not look like the best team of the tournament yet. They did not even make a goal themselves and the Engish fans in the stadium all looked a bit sedated after the match. I hope they will do better in the matches to come.

so far the czechs have impressed me the most, with italy/spain not far behind

I have been a fan of Germany for a longer time now (although I'm Austrian :-) besides I'm also a fan of Bayern München) and I was convinced they were underestimated by many people - but after watching these first two games I have to say: GERMANY HAS A WONDERFUL TEAM. WONDERFUL! They are no Brazilians or whoever, but: They simply insist on winning every game of a tournament and do really fight for their aim. So nice to watch. WONDERFUL.
