Does Cornell areadly send out its 1st decision to applicants from every country?

I heard that Cornell review the application by country.
Is it true?

My account now states that a decision has been reached.
Hopefully this is the second round of acceptances, but it might also be a rejection .....
As far as I know airmail to Europe shouldn't take more than a week, but I would have been really glad if they had send me an email....This entire admission process is driving me crazy...

Just received the letter from Cornell. Admitted! I am not sure however if I prefer it over Penn. Let's see and wait what the other schools say first....

Does 'decision' include rejections as well. How can someone say that decision means 'get admiited'? I am going bonkers waiting.

I also have the same question.
According to Cornell's websit, the "Decision" just means "a decision has been reached". I think it might also include rejection as well. But somebody said that it just means "get admitted".
How about those who are rejected? What kinds of application status will it appear on the website?

It meant "get admitted" then (mid February, I think), since they were sending 1st round letters of acceptance. At present moment, it can mean anything. But if the letter doesn't reach you in 2 weeks, you can e-mail the admissions office and ask the result.

Michelle, I'm waiting for this decision for a while. My current status says "decision reached, you will receive a mail in 10/14 days"
I thought that this statement meant rejection, 'cause, that's quite late. But you're giving me some hope!!
When have you received your decision?

Thnak you in advance to confort me that it's still possible!

Hi Ryan,
I received the notice of completeness from Cornell in early January, and I got my admission letter in late February.
I really hope this information works for you. How about your impression on Northwestern Law School? Whst's NW Law School's strength?

Michelle, difficult question... NW or Cornell?
I don't know a lot about NW, but it has a strong reputation, and the faculty seems great, and morover you'll be in the top 10 school, not top 11!
take it into accopunt, but this decision is your

The US news ranking is valid for JDs but there are many other factors that have to be taken into account for LLMs. For example, in my situation, Cornell is much more appreciated in France and is a better choice than Penn, although Cornell is ranked 11th and Penn 7th. Northwestern is great in the US, but not that well known abroad ...

In my opinion, the statement that one university is more known in one's origin country, is not a good way to compare university.
When you study in another country, you should compare university the way they do in that country. That's the best way to be sure to be in the best university.
That's why I would ever choose the best university from the US point of view, and from that point of view that's the ranking wich must be considered.

Yeah, I'll elaborate. There are no rankings. It's just more appreciated by recruiters. I'm currently attending a top business school here: I don't want to brag but outline the fact that our law professors are mainly partners from top law firms and have all told me I should go for Cornell instead of Penn (even one who attended Penn !!), since its LLM has a better reputation here. However, that may not be the case in other countries.

The same information is applicable to law schools such as Virginia, Michigan or Northwestern, even though it MAY have a better reputation in the US.

Hope this helps ...

Hi everyone,

I got a letter from Cornell dated 17 Mar just today. Unfortunately, I only made it to the waitlist.. My application was very late, I only sent stuff just a day before the deadline of 1 Feb, I recall.

I will send them an e-mail soon to them to say I would do anything to get admitted (!), but if any of you are in the same situation, I would appreciate some advice on this.

Many thanks in advance!!

Hi Elan,
If I were in your shoes, I will write a courteous e-mail to Cornell Admission Office and ask them that if they have made a decision in my application because I am afraid that I have missed the mail. I know how you feel, this is an experience of tormenting one's mind; I think you shoule let them know how desirous that you want to get into this school.

Hugs,
Michelle

I think Cornell is more appreciated in France because of the scholarships offered to the students by their universities in France, just like scholarships to San Diego university etc. And it is a plus because it is in New York state. Take for example North Western, though it is in the top 4 for MBA, it is not popular in France. So ranking in your own country sometimes do contradict the US ranking. U Penn is no. 10 and Cornell is no. 14 in some French ranking.

Hi Elan again,

I forgot to answer another question of yours - whether or not I had heard from them before I received the letter yesterday. The simple answer is no.

I did not receive any e-mail or anything, and I had not contacted them to hassle them to reach decision either, since I was almost giving up on them!

But you should probably contact them, I myself will contact another school that I have not heard anything from them since Dec.

Best wishes

I sent Cornell an email last Friday asking when I could be informed of the admission decision, and set forth below is what I received from Cornell:

"Thank you for your e-mail. Our general policy is that applications that are completed by our Februaty 1st deadline should have a decision by early April. We will contact you as soon as a decision has been made. We appreciate your patience."

I am living the same problem. Admitted in both Cornell and Northwestern. I am little bit favorable to go to Cornell. As I want to pursue my carrer in my home country, Cornell is far more prestigious here. And you, what's your decision until now? I also need your help/opinion. Many thanks!!
