I think the professional LL.M got their admissions. However the academic LL.M will receive it around March - April.

I confirm.Tue Dec 18, 2012 10:07 AM I was admitted to the Professional LLM (email received about 3 weeks ago). I sent an email asking when Academic year LLM decisions will be made and I have been told they will in April. |

Maybe because of the Christmas break, just forget it for a while. I doubt much will change for this week too.

My application went complete on December 5th. I believe that Berkeley will only put the applications under review near the time that they will send out decisions. Now it's still pretty early.

got an offer for the Professional program a week ago, relatively soon after completing my application (and somewhat surprising as it was during the holiday season).Thu Jan 03, 2013 07:25 AM i'd assume there'll be more offers to the pro program coming around again, as pretty much everyone probably throws in the professional application as a bonus, but a lot probably prefer the academic year. for me, the pro could work quite well, but it does mean a number of adaptions to my original timetable, in regards to arrangements with my employer and so on. so i'm still not decided. my deadline for acceptance is mid-Jan, and i'd assume it's similar for others who got offers in the past week or so - which means that there might be another wave of offers coming up afterwards. |

Berkeley is definitely my top choice.Thu Jan 03, 2013 08:02 AM I did visit the campus last year, talked with some students and attended a class there. On the top of it I love the environment in Berkeley…that city is so me!! Regardless of academic of professional, I will take an opportunity to study there. I even think the professional could be the best way for me to study and continue my work at the same time. |

Thu Jan 03, 2013 01:50 PM Berkeley is definitely my top choice. sounds good. i'm a bit torn still - with a Central European background, i'm not eligible for any of their scholarships, and chances are individual fin aid is slim pickins as well. back home, scholarships focus on the academic year or even generally rule out professional programs like this one. lifting it all by myself might be a lot, given that it might not make a world of difference in my future earnings (got a solid career going on, not really going for the big bucks). i think i'd miss the interaction with US students in the professional program (although i'm considerably older than they'd be on average anyway, but who knows, they might appreciate hanging out with grampa or that one weirdly fun uncle). on the other hand, since the professional program isn't really an option for those looking for a job in the us, it might make for a more relaxed atmosphere with classmates, since everyone's going back to their homecountries and not desperate to try and land a job in us big law. |

Hi guys, Fri Jan 04, 2013 08:53 AM I have been admitted to the Professional LLM (was notified yesterday) and I am quite undecided on what to do... I actually did not expect to get in any top universities as my grades in law school were pretty average, but I guess it is not that hard to be admitted to the Proffessional program compared to the Academic year... On the other hand, I worked really hard on my personal statement and have work experience, which might have helped me somehow. Anyways, my point is that I am not sure if I will be admitted to any other program and am therefore afraid that if I say no to the summer LLM I will lose all my chances... I do like the program, it is not only a matter of accepting "just in case", but I am wondering if it is a good option. Is any one else seriously considering enrollment? I would like to have an idea on your point of view! Thanx |

it seems most do apply for both. i did. like most people are, i was looking at 'regular' programs, and their application process pretty much invites you to check out the summer version.Fri Jan 04, 2013 12:14 PM |

Tue Jan 08, 2013 08:19 AM Hi guys, Deadline is Jan. 24th! I am currently working at a law firm in Spain and they would be ok with my leaving for one year to study a complete year LLM. They would rather have me enrolling in the Proffessional LLM, though, and leaving for two summers instead... In any case, my plan is to return to my law firm and not to find a job in the US! |

Sirs, Thu Jan 10, 2013 04:10 PM I followed this forum for the last 6 months, but I just created an account here today to reply some of posts that I have read in recent times… It is incredible how the Professional LL.M. program offered by Berkeley is underrated and underestimated for some of the guys here. I read in another threads some students saying that they prefer the traditional LL.M. (10-12 months) offered by less traditional universities (I will not name any to avoid controversies) over the Professional LL.M herein discussed. With all the respect to the mentioned opinions, come on fellows, in which planet you live? 1. Berkeley is one of the best universities of the world. Such status is also confirmed by the most respect rankings, as the ARWU raking in which Berkeley always figured in the TOP 4 Global University; 2. The professors and the LL.M degree are the same, both in Academic and Professional program; 3. The quality of the professors are extremely high. Please do some research and compare the C.V of the professors with those who teach at other universities; 4. The fact that the university offers the Professional LL.M for those who prefer study at two summers should be seen as a pioneering initiative and not as a negative fact since as a general rule the world class universities offers only the traditional LL.M program over 10-12 months. Open your mind, don´t be outdated; 5. Some here claim that the admission standards are much lower in the Professional program in comparison with the traditional. I talked with some Boalt Hall LL.M. students and could see that this is not true. Just as in my case, some students only apply for the Professional or prefer the Professional program over the Academic. It should be borne in mind also that the Professional has much less seats available in comparison with the regular program, which helps to ensure the quality of the program; 6. It´s obvious that the professional has advantages and disadvantages over the academic and people should look for the best for their needs; 7. Berkeley has one of the most beautiful and modern campus among the most traditional universities. JFYI, I just applied for the Professional LL.M (yest, not applied for Harvard, Stanford, etc.) for my own reasons (especially job) and will be part of the 2013/2014 class. Also for your guidance, I´m pretty sure that I´m qualified and have credentials to easily be admitted in any university of the world. For those who was admitted in the Professional Program, see you in Berkeley soon. |

Thu Jan 10, 2013 04:18 PM Sirs, Hi there C. Tax, I loved your post. I have been studying the program and it seems to me like a more that acceptable option... This is Berkeley, for God's sake! I was being overly insecure myself, but after a little time to digest this news I am extremely excited about my acceptance and am about to enroll. I only have to figure out some concerns that I will discuss with the Univ. Office... I guess I will see you soon! |

Im not applying for the Profissional LLM, but I totally agree with C. Tax. Berkeley is a highly-regarded university in both academic and profissional LLMs. Fri Jan 11, 2013 11:51 AM By the way, has anyone applying for the academic LLM gone Under Review yet? I've completed my application on December 12nd and my status has not changed yet. |
