Has anyone heard from UofT yet as to the status of their LLM application? By status I mean admission or rejection. My application has said 'Under Review' for about a month now.

To those of you that applied to UofT in the past and are reading this now, I'd love to hear about your experiences; particularly the turnover time, what offer you received, etc.

Best of luck to all the applicants out there and congratulations to those who have heard back already!!

T.

Congratulation on your acceptance! May I ask what your GPA was? I'm currently waiting for a reply too! The longer I wait the more nervous I get!

Zizi and Laverdure, if you don't mind my asking, how long of a window to respond does the admissions committee at UofT give their candidates?

Still waiting on UofT and no answer; applied pretty early too so at this point I'm quite discouraged! Got good news from McGill but Toronto is my first choice.

Well, I also applied for McGill but until now heard no reply.
Toronto Univ asked me to reply by March 4th.
Also, congratulations on your acceptance by McGill!:)

Thanks Laverdure! Still waiting to hear back from Toronto but getting increasingly nervous the more time passes.

I'll be disappointed if I've waited this long only to receive a rejection. UofT is my first choice! Really excited for McGill though and would gladly study there if things with Toronto didn't work out.

GPLL.M 2013-2014 University of Toronto- Admission Offer

I'm sorry; I can't help you! My knowledge on the GPLLM and Professional Development LLM courses is minimal. I applied for the regular LLM at both schools.

Your best bet is to research! I researched loads for the courses I applied to. Hope this helps!
Try the UofT website for all application information. I know Osgoode has an application guide (although, I'm not sure if it covers the GPLLM; but still worth looking into).

Both courses stress that the LLM doesn't help you qualify as a lawyer in Canada. I intend to do NCAs afterward.

Good luck! :)

Please refer to this link. www.law.utoronto.ca/admissions/national-committee-accreditat….
"Note: The GPLLM does not in itself qualify graduates to practice law in Canada. However, starting in September 2012, students will be able to take courses designed to meet the National Committee of Accreditation's requirements for internationally trained lawyers."
I assume it means that the courses that you take in GPLLM can be accounted as courses which NCA requires.

Hope this helps. Btw, are you working as a full-time lawyer now? Is GPLLM mainly targeted at practicing lawyers?

It is targeted to lawyers outside of Canada or non lawyers ,having having experience.GPLLM is very expensive . please also consider the tuition fee of 30000/ for your comments as compare to 8300 for regular LLM.

Regular LLM tuition in UT is almost $30000 for international students. If GPLLM is also 30000, then they are the same.
So have u made ur final decision?

GPLL.M 2013-2014 University of Toronto- Admission Offer

I have a offer of admission for GPLLM 2013-2014 and waiting for Osgood Professional LLM in Canadian Common Law. My Law degree from Pakistan with First position in LLB Class .Prior to that Master of Political Science , Master of Science in International Relations and working in Govt. Sector for the last 5 years as Director and Canadian citizen . The university of Toronto GPLLM is great but fee is $ 30000, which is too high .please compare this program with Osgood Professional LLM in Canadian Common Law. I need your views between these two programs. Please keep in mind that Osgood fee is $21000 for that program. There is no financial assistance for that program .only OSAP loan is possible. Personal views are requested.

Sorry, I have little knowledge abt GPLLM in York U. If u are aiming for a lawyer job in Canada, I suggest you contact directly the law faculty of YU and ask abt the NCA requirement. Plus, my personal tendency if for UT. When talking about international recognition and prestige, I think UT is better than Osgood. It will help you more in your career in any sector or country you may go to. Good luck with whatever choice you make!

Hey! thanks for replying . you are enrolled in LLM in UofT but referring GPLLM Program Oz . It is very elite Professional LLM Program at university of Toronto. It is dual Purpose Program for foreign trained lawyers and Canadian Experienced Lawyers. It is not academic though like others LLM UoT program. It is Professional Program. In Canada ,mostly law office in Bay Street and else where considers negative for being LLM holder in academic side. GPLLM IS POPULAR AMONG SENIOR LAWYERS . Paul Martin Ex. Prime Minister Canada have also delivered positive Comments in the Convocation 2013 .
