Yes, I agree that this board seems obsessed with rankings.  However, you need to understand that in order to work for a &quot;mega&quot; firm you need to graduate from a top law school, preferably with a JD degree.  You also need to understand that most foreign law school graduates applying for LL.M programs in the US will be spending quite a bit of money, alot more money than they paid for their undergraduate law degree, so they will naturally want to be admitted the the most highly ranked law school possible.  That being said, it does seem slightly ridiculous to quibble over the merits of NYU versus Columbia versus Berkely etc.  Graduate from a top 10 law school and you should be fine.  The LL.M is not a JD and is only a year.</description>
