Hi, meghna

I also got admission to Northwestern's LLM/Kellogg in early March. I have difficulty choosing between NW and NYU. Kellogg has excellent reputation while NYU law school has wonderful reputation too. If you are interested in LLMK mainly because of its business certificate, NYU also provides you with similar opportunities to get an advanced certificate, right? I know Stern does not rank as high as Kellogg, but NYU law's reputation should be able to offset that, does it not?

However, NW LLMK gives you more choice for business school classes, and in fact, LLMK is cheaper because NYU allows you to take fewer credits from Stern than LLMK. Besides, LLMK usually has only less than 20 students enrolled. You can probably get more attention and higher quality educations in LLMK (purely personal opinions only. I welcome any dissenting opinions...).

I prefer NYU also because of its location. Honestly, I am still strrugling between the two....
What is your concern?

Hi, has anybody here applied to Canadian Law schools? I havent heard from any, so far and am getting a little worried. Have received an offer from Northwestern-they need a reply by the 15th. Any thoughts?

Joseph,

Ring any Universities that you would prefer to NW and explain that you have an offer from another University and need to accept or reject that offer by the 15th. Ask whether they can give you an offer in the next week.

If they can't ring NW and ask for an extension on the basis that you are yet to hear back from other universities.

Thanks Joseph. I think I'll do that, its just that I dread they'll give me bad news if I push too hard!

I agree with you peggy. I have got accepted to the Business Program in Stern too.. I was comparing the programs. The LLMK is finance oriented while the Stern Program is M & A oriented.

I am tending to favour NYU becuase as a Law school NYU is better. They have offered me partial scholarship in Stern if I take up their offer.

The other problem is I got an offer from Columbia... So what do you think of Columbia vs NYU?

Vid, I would call or e-mail immediately, do not be scared of any bad impressions, in contrast, it makes you more attractive being accepted in NWU. I applied in Toronto and received admission two weeks later and they gave me time to accept until end of April. So they made their decisions immediately and you seem to be on a standby-list.
Cheers,
Luke

Hi Luke, Thanks
Received an email (last week) from Toronto that they would have an answer in two weeks. Do you suggest I email again?
My application status on the McGill website says "Ready for Review"- does that mean my application file is going through a second round of consideration? Has anyone heard from McGill or Ottawa?
Cheers

Hi Luke,
When was your application received by Toronto? I sent my application pretty close to the deadline, think that might be the reason for the delay?
Thanks

Hi meghna,

Congratulations on your admission to Columbia!
If I were you, honestly, I would choose Columbia over NYU/NW "without second thought".

I (I believe that you too) don't really care about the business study "certificate" but the subtance of knowledge I can get. At Cornell, law students can freely take as many business school(Johnson)'s credits as they want with NO extra charges. If Columbia and NYU adopt the same policy, I will definitely go to Columbia or NYU without enrolling at Stern's program. By doing so, you save tons of money and you can always explain on your resume the business eduations you've recieved. I don't know whether a advanced business "certificate" really makes such a big difference.... If it does, please let me know.

I suggest you to talk with current LLM students and ask them about whether they are free to receive business school's units.

It seems that only few applied to Fordham..
Where are you?
Is Vidja the only one that has been accepted?

If someone can help me, please do it: I'd like to know something more.

Thanks

Vid,
I received February 2, and I got the an admission February 11 by e-mail and a paper admission followed some day later. The offers of admissions are open until April 15, so that is why you have to wait two more weeks. I will not go there, so one place is open.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Harvard, douche!

The hurricane of fame… You haven’t even enrolled yet, and already the principal ratifying institution of American elitism has had changed your life. Already, everyone on this forum knows your name and reputation. Many admire you (I certainly do) and even more are jealous or in denial (rey, whose cherished assumptions are revealed to be total bunk) … I don’t know which you find more satisfying?

All it took was a ”relatively” truthful translation of your grades (relative to what? your personal statement?) and voilà .

Harvard stands for one thing: measurable success. You’re already a success for outwitting the admissions process and, from now on, you’ll never be anything else.

Wish me luck on my SJD application!

Hello Walter
I applied to just 3 universities in the US (all in Boston) and I already got accepted at Boston University and Suffolk Law School. I am still waiting for HLS response. I am sure BU will let you know about your admissions pretty soon!

Hi,

My name is Walter Alomar, from Puerto Rico. I applied to Cornell, NYU, Fordham, Georgetown, Loyola, Boston Univ., Miami, Delaware. So far I have not received anything but an electronic mail from Miami and Delaware requesting a letter of recommendation that was missing.

WILL LET YOU KNOW ANY NOTICE.

By the way, anyone here applied to any of the above-mentioned LL.M. programs ? Looking for a roomate or a friend.
