Hi everyone,
My name is Josseph, from Tel Aviv, Israel (Yossi - for short).
I was lurking in the background for the past few weeks, but you can now add me to the list of ITP students for next year (it was a long decision process...). Thumbs up for decisively being the most active forum around!
I am interested in the accommodations aspect - who is going to the dorms and who is opting for his own apartment?
Take care,
Yossi

Hi Yossi, how are you? Listen, why don't you send a personal message with your e-mail address and I'll include you in our mailing list and introduce you "virtually" to the others... We have 13 people in the mailing so far (more than half of the class...).

By the way, I'm applying for the Mercer residence.

Looking forward to receiving your e-mail,
Ivan

i sent in my acceptance today.

I am also veering towards the housing provided by NYU. Far too convenient to be very honest.

By the way...how long does NYU take to send the I20 form and that NYU UID which they talked about in the admissions material?

Dear all,

I am from Kazakhstan from one of the former Soviet union countries now the CIS countries if you are not well aware of.
Could you help me to determine one thing: is legal experience in taxation sphere necessary to apply to NYU LLM ITP. As my grades, GPA and other necessary credentials as Golden medal high school certificate, a grant after Kazakhstan president received at the university I hope this all will play a role. But I do not have much experience specifically in the tax sphere.

Can anyone advise?

Regards,
Makon

Hi, Makon - I guess having some experience in taxes is certainly a plus when it comes to the admission process of the ITP, but it´s not a must. For instance, I know that some of our colleagues this year does not have a previous experience in taxation (although they are an exception). In addition to that, maybe the fact that you are coming from a country that had only 1 student in the ITP until now could be regarded as an advantage. My advice would be that you try to get in touch with this alumnus from Kazakhstan and ask for his advice... Cheers

If anybody in this forum was admitted to the ITP, please feel free to contact me if you have any query or doubt about the program. I´m just back from a Wine & Cheese reception at NYU and (believe it or not) we have talked a lot about next year´s class...

Hi, don´t worry about the admission - if your letter states you were admitted to the tax LLM, it is the general tax program. My reasons for applying for the ITP: a) flexibility of the curriculum (at the general tax llm you´re required to take more courses on US tax law, and even though I´m very interested in it, I wanted to take other courses on Int´l tax that were more appealing to me); b) size - although we´ll attend to classes with JDs and Tax LLMs, the ITP is a smaller (up to 25 students) program. I have the feeling it´s easier to make better acquaintances if you´re part of a more "exclusive" program. c) special events of the ITP LLM: for instance, the weekly lunches with int´l tax experts (great networking).
Would you mind to say something more about yourself (e.g. where are you from, credentials)? I´ll try to put you in touch with this friend of mine and I´d like to tell her more about you. Send me a personal message if you prefer.
Cheers,
Ivan

Hi Ivan. I am writing you from Caracas, Venezuela.
I am willing to pursue an LL.M in International Taxation next year, and according to your post and my previous investigations NYU is the best place.
I have the following question: The ITP is considerer as an LL.M program? What is the actual name of degree or diploma?

Yes, it is an LL.M degree, like all the other LL.M specializations (e.g. Trade Regulation, Corporate Law, Taxation). Its name is LL.M (International Taxation).

Hi,

as far as I know (I'm also a prospective applicant to the NYU ITP), applications can be submitted from October 1st.

Does anyone know if admissions are made on a rolling basis?

Thks

No they are not. Last year, all decisions came out in late-february, early march, if I'm not mistaken.

Anyway, I applied on December 1st and got admitted. ;)

good luck!

Hi everyone,
I'd like to apply for the ITP at NYU next year. My question is, how hard is it to get into this program? You've all been admitted. Can you tell me what your curriculum looks like? Some of you already have work experience. I don't. I'm finishing my LLB in the Netherlands this year.
Ps: are there any Dutch people admitted?

Regards
