Yay, I finally got my admissions e-mail from Wake Forest. I was admitted with a 50% tuition remission, the rest I will get from our state educational fund. I was also exempted from the TOEFL. Wonderful news. I can finally live close to family again.

Hey, great news. A LL.M degree without having to mortgage your first born child. Question. Why would you need to be exempted from the TOEFL if you have a JD from a US law school? Again, congrats.

Hehe, I have my JD from a Norweigan law shcool. My home town is Oslo, and I want to live here eventually. But I guess it wasn't problematic since I graduated from an American High School and have some US Law School experience. But I am still a foreigner.

Congrats!, a 50% exemption of the tuition is a pretty good thing considering the cost of Law study in the US. I´m also going to be in NC but in Durham (Duke). No scholarship for me, so I guess I´m going to have no money at all to enjoy the countryside. It´s going to be funny telling people "Yes I have an LL.M. from Duke and know I´m bankrupt".

Hi RR LL.M. Where are you from?Fri Mar 17, 2006 10:00 PM I was abt to apply to Duke, but they didn't seem too interested in giving me a tuition remission, and I really don't need more student loans. Duke seems like such a great school though, and a lil bit higher on the rankings. And you are closer to the beach than me ;) I am however siked about Wake, as it is not that expensive and accepts fewer LL.M students. And Winston-Salem looks like a beautiful city. |

I´m from Venezuela, actually I´ve never been to NC, but everyone that has been to it tells me its amazing. The Duke campus is supposed to be "a gothic wonderland", I am thrilled of going there this next August. Wake Forest is a very good university, and looks even better with a 50% tuition exemption! At Duke I don't think they would have been so eager to give that kind of money, just maybe a US$6000 scholarship, but I didn't get any so for me is full tuition which is going to leave me completely broke, but this is something I've been wanting to do for a long time. About the beach you have to visit this website www.nccoast.com is amazing. Durham is a like 1 hour or more east of Salem, and from Durham to the coast I think it is about a three hour drive, at least this is what I've been able to research so far. The thing is that fro what I've been able to see and read, all of NC is beautiful so we have a tremendous year starting this August. Congratulations again!

Hi everyone! I am from Mexico and will also be a member of the WFU’s 2006-2007 LLM program (was accepted like 5 weeks ago but haven’t had time to remit the final set of documents the university asked me for). I currently work for a Texas law-firm with offices in Mexico City but this LLM experience will be on my own (unfortunately I have to quit my job if I want to be an LLM student). Wed Mar 29, 2006 11:15 PM Three years ago I spent like 14 months living in Houston working for our local office down there, but this will be the first time I move to the US without depending on the firm and no longer as an attorney but as a student (what really excites me since these last years have been long and working 24/7). I have a couple of clients based in NC (Charlotte and Raleigh) and they keep on sending e-mails describing how wonderful NC is and, most important, how WFU is such a highly-recognized institution nation-wide. |

I think you will like North Carolina much better than Houston. Did you ever get a chance to visit Austin while in Houston? Anyway, congratulations on your acceptance.

Cool VMM! Congrats. Thu Mar 30, 2006 06:31 AM See you at Wake. And you will LOVE NC. Don't know much about Winston-Salem though. Heard it is kinda boring, but I guess with good friends... |

Richardvf: Austin is cooool. We have offices down there and I had the chance to spend several weekends in the city. As a matter of fact, I applied to UT but WFU convinced me with a significant tuition remission. Thu Mar 30, 2006 06:25 PM Hennenyh: A friend of mine attended to the 2004-2005 WFU LLM program and he also thinks that Winston-Salem is somehow boring. Anyway, he also told me that the university has tons of additional activities not only for JD’s but for LLM’s Anyone knows about the weather in NC? I am really used to the steamy/humid/HOT weather of Texas (where temperature rarely drops less than 41o) and you can wear flip-flops and t-shirts even in winter. See ya’ll |

NC has a somewhat semi-tropical weather. Not humid and very hot like Texas. NC has all four seasons (winter avarage around 40/summer avarage around 90). You rarely see snow or tempratures below freezing. Spring starts early there, and right now the temprature is 70F. Thu Mar 30, 2006 07:57 PM I guess it depends on what you are used to, but I have lived in Norway and North Dakota (and Maryland), so for me NC is a pretty hot place ;) Anyways, it is the perfect beach getaway in the summer for anyone. But no flip flops during winter... brrr... He he! |

Mon Jan 08, 2007 07:11 AM Yay, I finally got my admissions e-mail from Wake Forest. I was admitted with a 50% tuition remission, the rest I will get from our state educational fund. I was also exempted from the TOEFL. Wonderful news. I can finally live close to family again. Hi My name is Avantika Banerji.I am a young lawyer from India.I have applied to various Law schools in the US for my LLM,for fall of 2007.Wake forest is one of the schools I had applied to. I have got an acceptance letter from them,in that letter they have said that the Commitment date deadline is January 31, 2007. I am not able to understand what that means.Does it mean that I have to convey my final decision of accepting admission by this date? Which if correct is a big problem, since I have not heard as yet from the other schools I had applied to.I will probably be hearing from them in February/March/April. Can you please tell me what this 'Commitment date deadline' is? If I do send the letter of committment, exactly what implications will it have? Is it binding? and Can I back out and accept admission in any other school at a later date? Please help me out. I dont know what to do. |

Dear Avantika Banerji,Fri Jan 26, 2007 09:12 AM Congratulations on your admission to Wake Forest. You may find somewhere in this LLM Guide wherein the various stages of admission process is given. You may pick up what is meant by 'commitment date deadline'. Another suggestion to you, you may contact some of the U.S. friends if you have. You may contact the alumni of the same WF after tracing their e-mail addresses from the WF application brochure etc. Whether I am of help to you or not, once again congrats madhudamaraj@yahoo.com |
