Sorry for interupting your conversation.

NYU LL.M. program information session was held on March 29 in Tokyo. In the session, NYU professor seid that they started sending their admission letters to Japanese applicants last week and we would receive them until about next week. As far as I know, all Japanese applicants, including me, have not received any decision from NYU.

I understand the same session may be held in China. Does any one take part in the session?

Thanks for encouraging messages, but then why the guy on the phone did not want to say it?
Pooky, UPS is trying to deliver me the package in France, actually. Last time I called them, they said it was in transfer from one of their succursales to another....

Maria Gri, all Japanese applicants can attend the Tokyo session, not limited to the admitted applicants.

I think you are admitted to NYU (conglaturations!:)). Last year, some friends who were admitted to NYU received the admission package by UPS, but other friends who were rejected by NYU received the rejection by regular mail.

My mail from NYU was received by the mailroom in the New York Office of the company where I work. I am anxious to see what it inside this letter but unfortunately it will get to Moscow only on Tuesday. When I called the guy from the mailroom told me that it is a package, not a letter. Do you think that a package is good sign?

Those who received the mail already, please, tell me when is the deadline to accept the offer?

Degree: I'm sorry, there was a mistake in my post: I WAS NOT able to attend (not because of my admission/non-admission status), so could you tell me what kind of information is delivered during such sessions?

Pooky: they called me yesterday, but the package is still not delivered.

Matershka: I think the package is definitely good sign :)) If you are in, which of HLS, Columbia and NYU will you choose?

In the session, a simple lecture was given by an NYU Professor (who studied Japanese law and Chinese law), followed by an informational session (including Qs and As session). The session was enjoyable but I did not find real useful information there. I think the session aimed to attract Japanese applicants to enrolling not other universities' program but NYU program (there was a sumptuous banquet at the reception which was held after the informational session!).

A package is defintely a good sign. When the universities eject they just send a small envelope... "Although your credentials were great.... we regret to inform you..."
The deadline for NYU is May 6, that means that they should receive the answer and the $500 enrollment deposit by that date. You can enroll and pay on line. So, there is no need to hurry.
By the way, classes begin on August 22.

Hi. I received the acceptance package from NYU today. I'm Japanese living in NYC. NYU sent this package yesterday by UPS. I guess many of you will receive results soon. Good luck!!

In Taiwan, I got the NYU admission box in 3/28.
According to date on the admission letter attached in the box,
the decision has been made before 3/23.

Congratulations! I think all the acceptance packages addressed to Japanese applicants were sent on March 29 simultaneously. If I am admitted to NYU, the package will arrive here early next week. I am crossing my fingers…

Mshsh, are you working in a US law firm or Japanese company’s NY branch? or are you currently enrolling another law school in NY?

Actually, I'm not such a superb lawyer or something at all.
I used to work for legal departments of Japanese companies in Japan. Now, I'm just living in NYC.
Waiting for the result was pretty consuming for me, but now I'm just relieved.

Finally, I got my offer of admission this morning :)) Unfortunately, there is no mention of scholarships I applied to, I presume I was not selected? Has smb got a scholarship from NYU? If not, are you planning to use only your personal funds or do you have other options? Thanks for sharing your experience, as NY is rather expensive...

Hi all,

Please do not worry. I called NYU yesterday (29 March). The lady in charge of graduate admissions reassured me that the bulk of the packages have NOT been posted. They will post the packages through UPS Express on Friday, 1 April.

This is nerve-wrecking but don't worry...We're almost there. =)

I just got to the computer again. I graduated from the Moscow State University Law School. Actually, I have not made a 100% choice where to go yet, but probably it will be HLS.
