NYU-Trade??
Hi all!Tue Mar 28, 2006 08:58 AM NYU’s LLM in Trade Regulation has three concentrations: Antitrust and Competition Policy, Intellectual Property and International Trade. I choose to specialize in International Trade when I applied. But in the Admission packet, there is much emphasis on Antitrust and Intellectual Property in the Trade Regulation program, with little introduction to International trade. Actually I am interested in International Business Transaction Law and International Commercial Arbitration, and things alike. It seems that at this time NYU hast not provided the detailed course description to students yet. So I am a little worried about whether I have chosen the right concentration for myself or not. Questions here: 1, What is the difference between International Trade in the Trade Regulation program and International Economic law in the International Legal Studies program? Is there any major difference between the two in course setup? 2,Is there any chance that I can switch to another program, say, for example, the General Studies program, if I find myself not that interested in IP law or Antitrust? Is there any insider kind enough to give me some instructions? Many many thanks ! |

hi..Tue Mar 28, 2006 08:20 PM congrats on your admission...will be seeing you in NYU soon... well with regards to the latter part of your question, I'll say that you can change your specialization by requesting the university for it and it shall consider it. the details of the same are provided in the letter of admission that has been offered to you. Even i was thinking of switching from my current (generalized studies) to trade regulation (ha ha....opp) because (this gets funnier) i wanted more of IP... which the course offers. I knw i can take the same without specializing but I want to ascertain the advantages of having a specialised degree to my name. I am fixing a meeting with Mr. Wieler to discuss the same. |

sorry, was not trying to be an ass -- just thought that if you were gonna correspond with him, the correct spelling of his name might come in handy ...

I have accepted NYU's offer for the LL.M. in Trade Regulation. I am from Belgium and I was wondering whether any other Belgians are going to NYU next year.

NYU-Trade??
hey, i guess all the people here would have graduated from NYU in the international trade regulation stream. I am keen on applying for the same, and I would really appreciate some adivice from you on the following aspects:Sat Sep 20, 2008 10:04 AM i. As I have an equal interest in pursuing intellectual property & competition law, I was wondering which of these electives are the best to pursue? Also which have the best professors/job market? ii. What is the job market for international trade law llm graduates (non JD applicants)? I am open to a job even in Europe. iii. Any specific reason why NYU should be preferred over, say, Georgetown? I hope you guys can help me out.. |
