Hi everyone. I am a Brazilian lawyer who was admitted, among others, to NYU and still waiting Columbia's decision. Between NYU and CLS I rather go to NYU since I will focus my studies in International Legal Studies. However, since living in NY is extremely expensive, a great scholarship from CLS could make me change my mind. Since I did not hear from CLS until now I believe it is almost impossible to be offred a schorship from CLS. Do you agree? I am really worried because I still did not enroll at NYU and need to start dealing with all burocracy regarding Visa, housing, etc...

Did you apply for a specific fellowship? I applied for a Human Rights Fellowship, but received no word thus far (though admitted nearly two months ago). Two friends of mine who were admitted, and didn't apply for a specific fellowship, were informed of the financial aid decision shortly after, and were required to confirm attendance by a certain date.

Just five minutes ago I received the admission email from Columbia. I have already enrolled at Yale and will decline Columbia's offer. Perhaps some of you guys will be offered my place. Cheers. -Toni-

The fact that tmalmine received his admission only today is proof that Columbia is still processing applications and are not now sitting on admissions because anyone who has not heard yet is waitlisted.

tmalmine has top credentials. There is no way he was waitlisted by Columbia.

I am also really tired to wait for an answer from Columbia .... Their application reviewing process really sucks .... Did anybody which applied close to the deadline (December 15) already receive an answer?

I sent my application just in time to meet the deadline. I don't have a clue whether I was waitlisted or not, but it is possible that they're still reviewing some of the applications. Best of luck to those who are still waiting for the decision.

Just spoke with Marietta,

Today she is emailing a bunch of offers, rejections, and waitlists. Just because you have not heard by now does not mean you are waitlisted. Offers, rejections and waitlists will be made by email up until May 10 according to her...

Hi All,

I'm one of the oh so lucky few still awaiting a reply from Columbia.

I was just wondering does the delay have to do with the fact that we sent in our applications just before the deadline. I know my application was received Dec 14. Did everyone else still waiting send in their applications just before the deadline?

Tash, this is just to tell you that I believe that the date when you sent your application doesn't matter. My application was received on Dec 14 and I received an answer on Feb 28.
The rolling based system basically means that CLS review all the application simply by chance.
As far as I know admissions are still in process.

Hi Scotty, you are definitely not the only one. Besides me, I know at least 5 other Brazilians that are still waiting for an answer from CLS. If you hear anything from Marietta, please let us know.

Thanks, Cynic. I have a feeling you will be hearing very soon, given what people have been posting on here (that decision are made, just need to be communicated).

I wonder if what's taking long is not admissions, but rather decisions on financial assistance. - both are communicated in the same email.

well, maybe -- although i didnt apply for fin aid myself.

oh well, the reality is that unless i hear from them in the next 2 days, i am headed to NYU...i have a 1 may deadline for NYU and i am sure that cant be extended given that i have been sitting on the nyu acceptance since 14 march. for columbia to send out decisions up to10 may is just plain idiotic.
