i applied to both on the same day.

got an offer to Queen's last week. anyone else got offer and is considering going there?

UofT on the other hand has been slow, two months with no news, phoned them and was notified that my file is still 'on hold'. no idea what that means. but somehow my gut feelings tell me that if you are a desired candidate, they wouldn't really put you on hold. i was top 20% of the class. would anyone be kind enough to speculate whether that's good enough for UofT? (maybe thats not good enough for canada's best law school?) looks like it's more likely than not that i'm heading to Queen's then. (even though my top choice would be UofT)

I really don't know. For my part, I have been admitted one week after I send my application material but I didn't get financial assistance. I was top 5%, won a national moot court competition, was law clerck and I work in a major canadian law firm. Hope it may help a little bit.

Congratulations for your admission! My intended specialization would also be business law and institutions but I'm not sure I will go to UofT. I just got a positive answer today from McGill and since I already live in Montreal, it would be a lot easier to stay here and go to McGill. On the other hand, UofT has a better programme for business law. I have to make my decision soon because of UofT's deadline...

congrats on the admissions nick! i could see your dilemma. on my part i would prefer UofT. perusing through McGill's website i could see no comparable specialized program, so you will only be doing a general LLM. i guess in the end it boils down to whether you think the academic factor outweighs the geographical factor or vice versa, and for me, the first prevailed (i'm from asia)

but objectively speaking, i dont think the choice of school matters that much for you because your impressive credentials + LLM at either school will get you far. good luck! let me know if you decide in favour of UofT =)

Hey,

Thanks for your last comment. I finally decided to go to UofT, given that it has a better programme and is a better Faculty of Law (my opinion). I have discussed with a lot of McGill students in the past few weeks and all of them told me to go to UofT; they actually consider UofT better than McGill, especially for business law. Since your intented area of study is also business law, we will probably have several courses in common next year.

By the way, where are you from exactly?

Have a nice day!

Nick
