Hi! Last time Stanford was #2, many Harvard alumns critized the ranking and in the following year Harvard was back to #2. I am just saying that Yale and Harvard alumni is so powerful (which btw is a good reason to go there) that they can change things...

Hi, does anybody with access to the full US NEWS rankings for 2007 know how the ranking is for IP Law schools turned out? I know it's very biased and not too reliable, but as many, I'm a curious guy.

Are you going to Stanford? Interested in IP or corporate law? I heard it is really awesome to study there. Of course, I didn't even apply because it is impossible to get in without a strong record of professional experience. Moreover, Stanford ain't that good in my areas of interest. Good Luck! |

I went to Alabama for J.D. Thu Oct 04, 2007 06:01 PM I would avoid it, unless you want to practice at a firm in Alabama. UA Law prides itself on its continuing socratic method of teaching (something they don't tell you in the brochures). Some of the professors can be notorious for targetting certain students for failure. And sad to say, it creates a dismal atmosphere among the students. Many students fall right in line with professors in taunting other students. It is not unheard of for some of the more competitive students to rip pages out of books before anyone else can get to assigned reading. I really think that you can do better elsewhere. Alabama is an inexpensive law school, which is great. But just remember, you get what you pay for. Additionally, the majority of students come from Alabama public universities, which are notorious for turning out mediocre students. I will never forget the first day of law school, when one of the students said, in class, that she spent her summer "teaching little n*gro children how to read." And this was 1996. Try a school that is in a larger area (Tuscaloosa is small, so, if you want to work at a law firm while going to school, your chances are slim) with a more diverse population. |
