Choosing a JD Program
I have to decided between a few JD programs and was wondering if anyone has advice. The programs I'm deciding between are the following:Sun Apr 23, 2006 08:10 PM Univ. of Iowa, UC Davis, UC Hastings, Tulane, and Georgetown's part-time program Please, anyone, share your advice on how I should select -- strictly based on quality of education and career prospects. That is a very difficult question to answer because it all depends on the the school's cost, financial aid package, how much debt you are willing to accept, and where you want to practice law. Iowa, Tulane, Hastings and Davis are solid, but regional schools. Georgetown has a more national reputation. If you want to practice in California, especially Norhern California, Hastings or Davis might be right for you. Personally, eventhough you were only admitted PT, I would probably attend Georgetown. It is the highest ranked school and will give you more options.

I agree with Richardvf. I obtained a J.D. from a tier 4 law school. I received a good education but believe me when I tell you it can really limit your future prospects. I would suggest considering such factors as what your future plans are, how much money you are willing to spend, financial aid package, etc. All the schools you listed are solid, but Georgetown probably has the best reputation, rank. One other word of advice for what it's worth, hit the ground running. No matter where you attend (even Georgetown), the better you do, the more options you have.
