usmanmahmood:Tue May 09, 2006 02:10 PM first you must look at the web site of the NCA (national committee of accredation) i believe they are a branch of the upper law society of canada. the NCA reviews your schooling and experience to determine how relavent and how equivalent it is to our LLB. But i warn you, the application is $550, and they are tough. my brothers wife for example has an LLB from UK and they gave her zero advanced standing towards a canadian LLB. check out the web site on line for the NCA, it is really useful. one of the things you will choke at is that the NCA may recomend taking up to 10 tests, all costing $550 a piece, but every applicant is different. my adivce... look into LLM programs in canada. victoria has the cheapest tuition costs for international students and university of toronto has course work option instead of a major focus. univerisity of toronto is also a great school and so on. if you are set on practicing law in canada, you can obtain a special liscence to practice law from the country you obtained an LLB. i just cant recall the place to reference... maybe the upper law society. i hope i have been helpful... let me know how it all works out. z |
