Is NYU taking a really long time to notify other American LL.M. applicants? My file was complete on 1/25 but I still have not heard anything. I know NYU admissions says that decisions may come as late as mid-June. I am just wondering about other applicants' experiences. Thanks and good luck or congratulations to everyone.

I posted the same question a few weeks ago. Still haven't heard anything from them and I applied in December. Don't even know if I would go there if I got in. Let me know if you hear anything.
Best,

I heard from them earlier this month via email followed by a letter. Someone else on here got accepted too, but he and I are the only ones I know of. Not sure what that means as far as others hearing, but I think early May is when they send out the most letters (good and bad).

Are you both tax? I'm thinking they may be making decisions for different fields at different times. I made the mistake of applying for general studies at NYU, the program that a lot of internationals apply to so the competition for a seat may be a little stiffer. All just postulation though.

Yes, we're both doing the Tax program. I'm not sure about the general program, but I think the Int'l people would have had to put down their deposit by the end of the month. So, hopefully they would know soon how many open seats there are. Wish I could tell you more, but all I know is that a May decision seems to be the norm for at least the Tax program. Hope you get some good news soon.

I am really getting tired of the waiting. I applied to the Tax program at the first of November. I guess so far no news is good news, but I would really like to get SOME news soon. I have been accepted at every other school I applied to and I need to make a decision. But with the almighty NYU still lurking in the dark, I can't really make a decision yet. Maybe I'll send them a rejection letter. haha.

Has anyone heard? I applied on March 31, and got the acceptance packet yesterday.

gobucks,

I applied in mid-February and have not heard yet. Did you receive an email before you received your packet?

No I just got a packet in the mail that had "Admitted Students" stamped on the outside, and with some basic info, cd-roms and an acceptance letter inside. I emailed them the other day to request a status update and they said mid-June, so this was a surprise.

Hello to all domestic will be students,
I am not domestic but I will join you in the LLM in Taxation next fall so I just wanted to say hello, and maybe get the feeling that I know someone who will go to classes with me... :-)
By the way, just so you know, the dead line for all foreigners accepted on March 15 was May 1st.

Just received the "welcome admitted students" package in the mail, which included my acceptance letter for admission into the LLM in Tax (domestic student). Just like the response above, it came a couple of days after I called and was told that I should hear something in two to three weeks.

I just received the "welcome admitted students" package as well. It came almost four months after I had been accepted by both Florida and Georgetown. I get the feeling that domestic students are an after thought for NYU, which doesn't make me feel too warm and fuzzy.

The way I see it, the less competitive programs are more inclined to admit students earlier, since they are at a disadvantage in vying for students. The more competitive an application you submit, the more prone you are to receiving early acceptance in general.

That's that way it was for JD acceptances at least. Years ago when I applied to JD programs, I applied to many schools. The less competitive schools admitted me right away. The notice of acceptance at schools became later and later the more competitive they were.

I guess schools have "safety" and "reach" students just as we applicants have for schools!

I wouldn't take the admissions process personally. These schools have SO MANY applicants. They need a process by which to efficiently admit applicants in a ranked order.

That's my guess at any rate.

Theresa
