Hi everyone,
I'm a danish (italian speeking) student with a bachelor in law.
I've been looking into the UNICRI's LLM on international organisations, international criminal Law and crime Prevention, and I find it very interesting. However, I haven't heard a lot about it and would therefore be very appreciative if anyone had some experiences to share. I know that there have been similar programs run by UNICRI the last couple of years - has anyone had some experiences with those? How about admission - I see that there are only 32 applicants accepted each year - is it very hard to 'get in'? What about the university of turin in the criminal field - what is their reputation? How about job perspectives?

Any comments are very welcome.

I'm an American law student. I've heard some good things about UNICRI and have some Italian friends who studied at the Univ of Torino - they say it has a great reputation in Italy. I am interested in applying, and hope I have a chance! Did you also see the list of professors on the website? There are some famous names - and I think this program would be awesome because you are right there with all those UN offices - and hey, you'd be in Italy! Anybody else know something??

Hello:

I contacted the UNICRI person listed on the website by e-mail. It appears that they have only given the course in Italian in the past. I imagine that it would be difficult to draw conclusions about their reputation because it wasn't offered in English and may not have drawn from a world-wide applicant base.

The person also indicated that they "may" be offering scholarships, so this aspect seems uncertain.

I think the coursework is heavily focused on the war on terror, so it may not cover humanitarian aid or human rights law in depth.

I am an attorney in the US and I'm looking for a good LLM program. What is not clear to me is whether, upon graduation from the program, you would be marketable for positions as a Legal Advisor or Judicial Officer in the Hague on one of the tribunals. I'd like to hear from anyone who may have a view on this point.

I am lawyer from India and i have been working in the field of criminal justice for the last 2 years.
i am planning to apply for the LLm by UNICRI pretty soon.
Does anyone know more details about ??
Is it good ??
Since they accept onloy 32 students, i wondering if the admission process is pretty tough ???
Does anyone have any information on the scholarships ??

Hi,
I have got through the Unicri LLM. As i would have to take a loan if i wish to pursue the LLM. I would like any information on the following before i decide to accept :

1. The likely reputation of the LLM.
2. Cost of living in Turin. Likely rentals of room, etc.
3. Is it possible for a non-Italian speaking student to get a part time job ?

It will be a great helpif anybody can guide me on the above as soon as possible. I need to wire the first instalment by 25th July in order to accept.

ABOUT YOUR QUESTIONS: i DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT THE PROGRAM IS CONSIDERED, BUT IT MIGHT BE PRETTY WELL CONSIDERED, SINCE UNICRI IS AN IMPORTANT ORGANIZATION.
aBOUT LIVING IN TORINO, I THINK THAT - AS SUGGESTED - 600 € A MONTH COULD BE ENOUGH. YOU WON'T SPEND LESS THAN 250€ FOR A ROOM, THAN IT DEPENDS ON YOU ABOUT THE REST. FINDING A JOB IS THE HARDEST PART, STILL - AFTER THE OLYMPIC'S -THERE ARE MORE CHANCE TO GET ONE IF YOU ARE AN ENGLISH SPEAKER, MAYBE YOU CAN HAVE A LOOK TO SOME TORINO'S JOB PLACEMENT WEB SITE.

I don't know what will happen after the master, they talk about stages in some International Org.s, nothing is sure thou. Where are you from?
Still, I think it's a good program, not too expensive, and Torino, if you have never been here, is beautiful!!

Hi!
Torino is not that big, you can live anywhere and easily (or pretty easily) reach the UNICRI headquarters.
Still i suggest you to look for apartments in the University area, called "Palazzo Nuovo", because you will be in the centre of the city but rents are a bit lower; I suggest you to look for apartment among Piazza Vittorio, Corso Cairoli, Via Po, Corso san Maurizio (these are the biggest streets/square, but there is a bunch of smaller street where you cand find some).

hi folks!

I'm not going to attend UNICRI but I've been 3 months in the ILO campus where UNICRI is located (I've attended post graduate course). So I'll try to give you some info. Campus is located in Southern suburb of Torino, near faculty of economics of Turin University. Shared room/appartment depending on location and other factors might cost between 250-400 Euro. You may also find cheap private mansarda (attic), often without kitchen. In general, it is not an easy task to find a normal accomodation. There is a canteen in the campus, normal lunch or dinner costs ~4-8 Euro. Public transport for students - 15 euro per month. Depending on you location you can go to campus by bike. You may also contact campus for info about rooms in campus, people from not developed countries who get scholarships usually live there. Should you have more questions - I'll be glad to help you. As to me I'm planning to go to Amsterdam for LLM in a month:)

Hello!!!

I'm Carmen and I'm from Spain. I'm interested in developing a professional career within Interntational Organizations and I'm really interested in UNICRI LLM.

I would like to know the opinion from all of those who are just now studying the Master. Is there a real posibility to do an internship after the LLM??

I've studyed Law in Spain but I've never worked in the Criminal field, do you think is better to gain a training before doing the LLM??

What kind of qualifications are they looking for being accepted in the LLM??

And the last.. what about job perspertives??

I think that the tuition is 5000 Euros.

But I still do not have any information for 2007.
