Deferment letter
Wed Jun 28, 2006 07:48 PM
Hi! Everyone,
I got C-offers from Nottingham, Manchester Bristol,Essex,Livperpool... but due to sudden financial exigencies at home i'm planning to defer my admission for one year. Is there any provision for deferment in these univ's? What is the procedure?
All advices are welcome.

Thank you
regards,

Universities in the UK are usually open to deferments especially if you have a good reason. I know someone who deferred a place at Manchester last year- all they did was write a polite letter explaining the situation and asking if it was possible to defer. That did the trick!

Contact the same people you sent your application(s) to and ask them about the procedure - I'm sure they'll be ok - but be sure that is what you want to do. It's a particularly busy time of year for admissions staff at the moment, and they appreciate a quick concise letter or email so they can give you a relevant flag on their database and come back to you once they've cleared some space. Sometimes this can be well in to the first weeks of term, so be sure!
