Hi troy, I'm a UK student. What courses are you intending to study on the LLM?

Hi, corporate and financial law, so far my idea is to take Law of International Finance, Legal aspects of international finance and thinking of other two and you?

Hi, I am flying from Moscow to join the program and you?

Hello, I am also thinking of taking legal aspects of I.Finance. Just so you know, you can either take that or Law of International Finance. You can not take both courses because they are too similar, good luck!!!

Has anybody received induction materials from the Faculty of Laws yet?

I contacted them a couple of weeks ago and they said that envelopes would be sent out around about now.

I've contacted them yesterday and they said it would still take a couple of weeks to receive the materials (early September)...

Hi Koen, I also contacted them to get them to confirm my unconditional offer as I need to apply for a loan. They told me that they are still dealing with offers and applications! Apparently you can apply for the LLM right up to September 8th!!

It looks a really good commercial law course. Considering I don't have a very strong background in commercial law - which is something I would like to change - I think it is quite positive that you are not expected to have any previous banking or banking law experience. So i might see you for the first lecture!

Many thanks!

I see UCL's site gives the same information that August-September is exams time.

I agree, it seems to be a very interesting course and I plan on being in the first lecture to get a feeling of what the course is like...

Hi, I'm also going to UCL, focusing on commercial/corporate law, so I will see you guys in the banking course! I need to echo my frustration with the administration - I received the wrong admissions letter and while they realized the error back in July, they haven't done anything to reissue a correct letter yet so I can get my loans and visa. No one likes to answer their phones over there and everyone seems to be on holiday. Frustration aside, I'm really looking forward to the programme! I talked to people in housing and they said if you turned in your papers mid-summer you likely won't hear back until around Sept. 8 or shortly thereafter. Anyone interested in looking for a flat to share in the area? I've never been to London, so I really have no clue what to do about housing.

Is there anyone who has received the induction materials from the Faculty of Laws by now? I am still waiting for it.

Neither have I received a status update to unconditional yet. (On the phone someone from the Law Faculty said that my status was changed to unconditional and that they would send a mail that confirms it...)

I am getting worried that the materials won't arrive in time because this time next week I'll be in London.

Regards and see you soon at UCL!

Hi Koen. I got an email from Neil Tailor in the Faculty of Laws today with the induction information. I would give them a call and find out what's happening. You will also get some information sent through by the UCL Graduate Office - I rang them today but was told that they were yet to mail things out!! It's getting really late !!!

Hi there,

I have received correspondence both from the Law Faculty and from the Registry Office. To be honest there wasn't that much information in either package, the registry office just sent a booklet entitled " Information for New Graduate Students", most of which you can find out yourself on the net, and it gave the dates for the International Student Orientation Program on the 21st & 22nd. The Law Faculty just sent letters with the dates of enrolment (Tuesday 26th September) and the times. It also gave a brief outline of the first week of term.

That's all I have received, has anyone received anything more? I wouldn't worry about not getting those letters, there is absolutely no information there that you wouldn't get from a quick email from the university.

Jazzman, I'm just wondering if you have heard anything about accomodation?

Koen, I called Langton Close and they confirmed that the charge for arriving early is the same rate as the weekly rent.

See you all soon,

Hi mia, I received an email from the Faculty Office but nothing else yet. I agree, however, that most of the info is already online.

As for accommodation, I was rejected :-( But I have found somewhere to live in the short-term :-)

It says in the registration details that you do not have to give a final decision on the four subjects you want to study until the end of October. Surely if we were to change subjects we would have missed quite a lot from the syllabus?
