Hello,

I am a final year LLB student from Australia and am wanting to undertake a degree abroad so as to gain further knowledge and skills in civil law. I will be clerking for an international law firm soon and feel a degree in civil law would be invaluable in the study of both international and comparative law. I'm 22 so the study of civil law would provide broad instruction and not restrict me to a particular practice area.

Can you suggest any degrees? I am guessing only the French speaking part of Canada would offer these, but, I speak English only. Might any of the anglophone universities offer civil law instruction for common law trained lawyers?

So far, I have a GPA of 78% with a refereed article published, I review for a law journal, have some work experience etc etc... so would McGill be a posisbility?

Might get to learn French too! Its such a cool sounding language.

Appreciate any advice on this,

You should try Louisiana State Univeristy (LSU) that offers the kind of degrees you are seeking. Louisiana is the only state in the United States that has both legal systems (Civil and Common Law). Besides, the campus is great and the faculty is remarkable.
