Hi I'm also a third country applicant.

The programme has officially stated through the website that there is no test in this year.

My question is I got an e-mail saying that they will send an e-mail of the admission and the nomination for the scholarship in early of March.
If I get nominated, it doesn't mean I will certainly be granted the scholarship, right ?
And what is the chance of missing the scholarship if nothing wrong happens ?

Good luck to you all

Hi! I am also an EMLE applicant and really want to get there. Since to be admitted to the programme does not mean automatically to get a scholarship, my chances are quite small, because I will not be able to study there without scholarship. I am from Belarus currently doing LLM in Sweden and as you understand am a third-country applicant.
Who knows maybe we will be colleagues soon so do not hesitate to drop me on e-mail sveta8824@yahoo.com. Good luck! And see you at EMLE programme somewhere in Europe!!

To: GVV

Hey there,

here is what emle.org says:

"European students wishing to apply to the EMLE Programme for the academic year 2007/2008 have to fill out and submit the Online Application Form (OAF) by March 31st, 2007."

I am assuming the application deadline for EU students is March 31st, i.e. 2 months after the deadline for non-EU students. I suspect you will get your answer not earlier than May.

Good luck!

What are the entrance requirements like for the EMLE?

Is it a very competitive entry process?

I was thinking of applying in 2008. I will have an undergraduate degree in law, and also one in economics - But my economics results are much better than my law results!

GVV: EMLE Program 2007/2008

Well I can't really say you whether is competitive entry. Last December I have been in Rotterdam, attending a workshop and happened to meet some EMLE students. Most of them had no previous law and economics knowlegde, in fact most of them had only a law degree (which in South Europe lasts for 5 years - only after Bologna Treaty will we distinguish BA + M1).

From what I have been told (by former EMLE students who now take part in the european doctorate in law and economics), most important: letters and previous experience in the field. I held the impression this last one can be rewarding as really the majority of students I met had no previous connection with law and economics.

Economics is not essential in EMLE programme as far as I see. Focus is in Law. (I'm not saying it should be like this, but it looks like)

I applied with law degree (5 years), with 17/20, being A according to the european frame of reference (only 12% of the students).
I took Law and economics in faculty and currently work as research assistant.

Waiting for their decision...

any europeans waiting?

Congrats Morcos,

As far as i ahve heard from a friend who completed his LLM 2 years back, it is nto easy to work while studying. First the work permission is generally not more than 12 hours per week (which is extendable ofcourse) if you get one. i have also not received any scholarship. But the thing which concerns me more than the work thing is the post programme prospects....no body seems to have any fair idea about the alumnis who might have been placed in top-shot lawfirm or organisations. I am having second thoughts now since my aim is to work in a good international law firm after LLM.

YOU AHVE ANY IDEA?

Hey GVV, congratulations! We'll be sharing two out of the three locations. Congratulations to the others who have been admitted too.
As far as I know, Bologna will tell us the options we have about accommodation, mainly private renting or a place at one of the residences there are, but we have to make the choice ourselves and pay for it.

Hi there!

I have been accepted for the EMLE, too: Hamburg, Gent, Manchester. Anyone else?
I got several other acceptances, e.g. I could go to Edinburgh or Nottingham Trent University (LLM in European Law) as well. I am not quite sure which program to prefer. I am grateful for any help!

as I said above, I'm going to two of your universities: Ghent (2nd term) and manchester (3rd term).

I believe that the experience you'll gain during the EMLE is unique and the fact that it's recognised by EU institutions as a good LLM increases the opportunity to find good jobs (besides high consideration of the degree).
