Hi
I´ve been searching for LLM in the field of new technologies. But I have no idea where to aplly...
Edinburgh seems really nice
LSE (London)
Tilburg (Netherlands)
Glasgow

And I would like to go to Germany, but I didn't find anything, and I don't know if there is english teching.

If anyone could help I would appreciate it, even if it is with new ideas.....

Tilburg University offers a very nice LLM in Law & Technology. I am a student at this Master now, and it has a broad interdisciplinary approach. Different fields of (new) technologies (Nano, bio, Internet, DNA) are discussed inrelation to Law and effects on society. For students it is a great opportunity to think for themselves, because not everything is implemented in law or regulations yet.

Hi Danieltg - how goes the application process? Did you decide on where to apply?

I'm starting the application procedure in a week, and I'll apply to Edinburgh and Tilburg...
Any piece of advice? :)

Great to know you'll be applying to Edinburgh, Danieltg! Hmmm. Advice? I could be biased and say you should apply for our distance learning programme (www.law.ed.ac.uk/distancelearning/) but it'd be good to have you on-campus too, so I'll not try to persuade you either way ;-)

Advice for the application form? Well, I'd suggest that you download a copy and complete it using your computer, that way you can fix a mistake before you've committed it to the page. You can get them here: www.ed.ac.uk/studying/postgraduate/applications/fo…

Make sure that you've read the completion guidance notes (also available at the above web page), they have lots of useful advice in them.

Also, great advice is to make sure you send original or notary signed copies of your academic and language (if required) transcripts and awards. Your application will not be able to proceed if you send only unsigned photocopies or scans, so it's worthwhile getting this arranged before you send in your application form, unless you've made prior arrangements - such as your University sending in the transcripts directly...

Likewise if you send through references alongside your application, ensure that they are sealed in an envelope, with a signature over the seal by your referee. Otherwise, just have your referee send them straight through to the Postgraduate Office.

Certainly I'd suggest getting your application in soon, in any case. There are a number of good reasons to submit before it gets too busy: you'll likely get a response more quickly; you'll have time to apply for funding support if you need it; you can take a little longer to make your decision of you have to choose between two unconditional offers; and also you have more time to progress through the registration and matriculation process and arrange accomodation.

Here are a few website links which you might find useful for applying to Edinburgh:

A series of web pages full of helpful advice www.ed.ac.uk/studying/postgraduate/applications/

Scholarships office:
www.scholarships.ed.ac.uk

And some helpful advice if you come to Edinburgh: International Office pre-arrival guide for students: www.international.ed.ac.uk/pre-arrival/registratio…
Living costs in Edinburgh: www.international.ed.ac.uk/finances/est_cost.html

Hope that helps, and very good luck with your application to both Edinburgh and Tilburg!

I've recently been looking over the university in Aberystwyth, it offers a IT Law LL.M and it seems to have a strength in that subject too.

Congratulations, Daniel! I'm sure you'll have a great time here on-campus. I don't think you'll regret your decision, as you're sitting in your lectures, studying in the newly refurbished library, walking round Edinburgh with your fellow students heading off for coffee or a pint. And you will particularly think you've chosen well when you graduate at a ceremony like this one next year: www.law.ed.ac.uk/distancelearning/images/graduatio… and think excitedly about the future ahead!

Well done!
