Hi everybody!
I planning to do an LLM in new York in the following academic year 2007/2008. My specialization is International Business Law. I applied to NYU, Columbia and Fordham. I've just been accepted to Fordham! I am waiting the answers of Columbia and NYU.
As I understood, NYU gives its answers in mi-March! It's long. I think I prefer studying in NYU, but I'm afraid of losing my seat in Fordham. To reserve a seat at Fordham, they ask for $500...
So, I need advice in order to make my decision. People says that NYU admits a lot of students and chances to study there are hight... Is that true?
Can anyone tell me more about Fordham? Indeed, its ranking is not as good as NYU or Columbia one. Fordham is 32, Columbia and NYU are 4 (in Us News ranking).

Can anyone who succeeded in the NY Bar exam tell me about his/her experience?

Thanks!

When did you receive your offer from Fordham Law School and when did you send your application? It seems kind of strange they already start sending their admissions, considering the deadline. Did you get a notification that your application was complete?

Thanks!

My file was complete by December 18 th. A couple of days later, they send an e-mail to tell me my file was complete. I had my answer on January 18 th. Once you get an offer, you have 3 weeks to accept it or not.

THe LLM ranking are different than the law school rankings. Also, I know NYU admits something like 400 students to the tax llm while #2 UF only admits maybe 100, so it seems they do admit a lot.

hey sedjro,,
congrats man, fordham is a great law school as far as location , infra struct, n faculty r concerened,

my advice is tat,
1, first ask for any extentions if they r ready to give,
2, dont waste chance for fordham cuz nyu is competitive, ard 3000 applicants each yr
3. finally if u get into nyu forget 500$ n take the joyride,,

believe me man every does the same , (i mean eveyone has to waste 500$ ,,he he)

BTW frm which country r u n to which unis u applied?

If I were you, I should definitely not watch the us news ranking, because that would be too easy to solve your question.

Although I don´t know the exact number of students of NYU´s Tax LLM students, I think 400 is an exagerated estimation of the real number of students enrolled in the tax program... I would say that there are around 100-160 students, among full-timers (GTP and ITP) and part-timers (GTP).

Any guy know how to find the authoritativeLLM ranking? Is there big difference with the law school ranking? Quite curious.

Hi, I recently graduated from law school this past December 2006 and was not sure about whether I should apply for an LLM for this upcoming fall year or the following year (I just wanted to focus on the bar). I would like to apply to Fordham but the deadline was February 28th. I just thought I'd ask, but should I still apply for the fall 2007 year (I have to pay an extra $100 and the school will only consider if there is space available) or should I just wait until the 2008 school year? Any sort of help would be highly appreciated. Thanks so much everyone!

Hello,

If I were you, I'd give it a try! You don't have to pay 100$ extra, the tuition fee is just $ 100 instead of $ 65.

Good luck to you!

Greets.

Yeah, I think I will. I'd rather not wait until next year to get an LLM. I just hope I have a shot now. Thanks so much for the advice Isabelle! Good luck to you to!

Isabelle, did you have high scores in the toefl exam? Did you first receive an e-mail from them saying that your application was complete and then you received the package admission?

Does someone know how hard they are with toefl scores at NYU, Fordham and Columbia?

This is just a shot in the dark, but here goes - can anyone take a guess as to what range an applicant's GPA and class rank have to be to get into a program at Fordham and Cardozo? I hear LLM programs are not as stern in selecting candidates as they would be for JD's. Would a strong personal statement and reference letters be just as helpful as strong academic credentials? Good luck and congrats to all on this post and beyond!
