Hey Guys,Mon Feb 19, 2007 05:57 PM I am from France and still waiting for any response. It seems to me, that applicants from European countries have to wait longer than Non-European applicants. Perhaps It is because there might be much more applicants from Europe, but who knows...or has any European applicant received an offer? Is it true that the longer it takes, the slighter your chance to be accepted becomes? |

I'm from Brazil and I received an offer (by e-mail) in the first week of February. I haven't already received any information from the Colleges and my Camsys is not updated. Furthermore, I haven't received any booklet containing the official offer. I don't know whether or not it is normal, but, I feel a little bit insecure about this.Mon Feb 19, 2007 06:47 PM ViveleRick: Gook luck to you. I hope you will be a Cambridge student next semester! |

As I heard from last years applicants it takes a long time until the camsys will be updated or the package by post will arive. So no need to worry about it. congratulation to your admission!

Hi,Thu Feb 22, 2007 09:01 AM I was accepted, too. Looking forward to see you in Cambridge. I am from the Czech Republic (23). I met language and academic conditions. It is not true that the longer you have to wait, the smaller chances you have (this information was given to me by the course secretary). |

Praguecowboy, have you recieved the 'package by post' that should be forthcoming from Cambridge? Also, what is the status of your canmsis account, your funding application and the results of your college selection. I STILL haven't heard anything regarding these matters despite recieving a conditional offer via email nearly a month ago.Thu Feb 22, 2007 04:41 PM Irishguy, is this normal? If I don't hear anything by the end of the week, I think I'll email Ms. Wade. |

From what I can remember by the time the letter arrived I had begun to think that I had imagined the acceptance e-mail. I kept ringing to reassure myself that I was in fact admitted and that it had not been an administrative error. I think it was actually 8 - 10 weeks after the e-mail actually. I remember having a little rant on here about how time and space seem to operate differently in the admissions process. You really cannot even begin to fathom the level of administrative chaos that happens right up to the point when courses start. After that there are top notch, but just to give you a clue:Thu Feb 22, 2007 05:43 PM You apply, your application is processed by the anomaly that is the Board of Graduate Studies along with a couple thousand more applicants. And remember, everything is in triplicate! You are assigned a number and passed along to the law faculty. Post doesnt work the same here, so that alone could take four weeks or months. And remember, it has to travel all of about 1 mile. You application, or part of the triplicates is now dumped somewhere in a room in a big glass building that looks like an upsidedown ark, during the Christmas break, which starts around December 1st. Everyone disappears trying to avoid the massive rain forest that has accrued and hopes to god that it will either disappear over Christmas or that someone else will get around to it before they have to dive in. Christmas drunkeness ensues, lots of port hangovers, parties and January comes along. Paper still there, except theres even more of it than before. Now you do the prelim dump and save, scanning through to trash most of it, hoping that there will be rubbish. While going through you spot some real goldies, so you put them on the "easy decision" pile and once finished pass em along to whoever deals with admissions again so they can send an e-mail. This is of course the last time the law faculty will have any contact with their prospective students. They wont even know if you were actually admitted, because relations between them and BGS are a little strained and it would obviously break some sort of secret "anti-eficiency" pact to give the law faculty any more information having already gone to the trouble of posting them all that paper. You're tired now having dumped at least 60-75% of the paper and dont want to look at anything else, cause these are going to be hard. You decide to take a break. Meanwhile the easy decisions are put in the post and sent back to the anomaly that is BGS. BGS again are about a mile away so post will take forever. Then they actually reach BGS and get lost amongst the chaos. BGS discover where one of there over-worked crazed staff have been dumping letters after an amusing game of hide the file, which helps to pass the day rather nicely in the anomaly. BGS then decide that they should probably get the ball rolling on this whole admissions thing, cause the paper seems to be piling up again now that the faculties have started sending back the rejections as well. Argh, why can't they give us a break?!?! BGS decide to set you a condition. In my case it was to complete a Swedish Undergraduate Degree with a ValGodKand along with a passing score in a TOEFL, ergo requiring me to simultaneously stop time, unlearn English, learn Swedish, and then relearn English again, translocate to Sweden an complete 4 years of undergraduate law and a thesis and have a graduation in less than 6 weeks. I think that was quite an impressive entrance requirement, don't you?. Noone thought it was odd that they were posting this to Dublin, Ireland either, nor did they think it was odd when I rang to ask if I sounded in any way Swedish to them on the phone, apparently the problem wasnt immediately obvious even then so I was passed higher up. Back in the law faculty term has started again goddammit, and we have all these parties and drinks receptions. We did a lot of work already, lets leave it until we have a bit of free time before we start going through the pile again. And so the dance continues until around April. About three weeks before the course starts the law faculty will e-mail to ask you if you were actually admitted and passed the entrance requirements, cause again, they have a bit of a war going with BGS and it would be a sign of weakness to actually get the information from them. I have even begun to think what happens with the colleges, its all just a little too frightening .... [Edited 22 Feb 2007 by irishguy23] |

Hi, I am from Malaysia and I received a conditional offer from Cambridge today. Can't help but saying how relieved I am!Mon Feb 26, 2007 06:41 PM Didn't specify any college of preference; would be glad just to get a place on the LLM course. Would love to get to know some of my future classmates before the course starts (assuming I meet all the conditions!). Cheers. |

when to expect?
Tue Feb 27, 2007 06:19 AM
I haven't heard from CAM either. I heard that CAM is notorious for its sloppiness in updating statuses. Anyone knows the absolute deadline for Cambridge LLM notification? (March? April?). Or anyone to contact? I am from mainland China. I got my BA in the States. |

MBZ: It says in my offer that if I do not intend to accept the place, I should notify them no later than 15 April to allow them to re-allocate the place. However, it also says that we will receive further information on these matters in the follow-up letter that admitted students should receive in the next few weeks. I guess therefore that the admission process will probably go on to the end of April or beginning of May.

UT: Thanks a lot. It really helps. Tue Feb 27, 2007 08:21 AM May is quite late for me as I will need to let my employer know of my intention to leave in advance. |

Decisions appear to be made on a rolling-basis with a clutch of admissions made every few weeks. So you shouldn't lose hope that you won't hear back from them until April or May. Hopefully, you'll get your decision before then.
