Well as far as I&#39;m concerned, I would still go to Berkeley yes. It&#39;s true that they have lost a lot of credit after the departure of Lemley for Stanford (that&#39;s why the ranking provided by USNews, which is not updated, cannot be relied upon in my opinion).

However, Berkeley still has Menell and Samuelson, two great fellows in this field. Besides, their curriculum in IP field and seminars are still excellent in my opinion. This is also the opinion of a friend of mine who graduated from Stanford. Berkeley lost power towards Stanford, probably true, but not towards others.

But once again, Columbia and NYU are also top schools in this field.

In the end, your heart will also guide you. Would you prefer to be on the East Coast in NY and closer to Europe, or would you prefer to be on the West Coast and its sun but farther from your home. Berkeley&#39;s Campus is very nice. This is also something which can matter...in the end, we&#39;ll be there for one year and won&#39;t do it again in our thirties...
