Hi guys,
as you have probably seen from my previous posts I am currently at the ILF (second semester just started btw...great classes I must say, even better than the 1st semester).
The placement scenario seems indeed impressive. All the alumni I've met have good positions. Some students get job offers even before completing the program.
Going forward, we have now the first American student from Columbia, for one semester. Commencing with yr class there should be American students from Columbia for the whole yr (joint degree JD/LLM). Good news for the ILF coz this means that the program has been accredited (for American students) by the ABA.

I am currently living in the University dorms, there is a certain number of rooms available. A lottery takes place every year to assign the rooms to the interested students of the ILF (I don't know exactly how many rooms are there: in my dorms we are 6 students of the ILF, there are probably 2 or 3 other rooms in other dorms). So if you are admitted remember that you will have to show you interest in participating in the lottery (Btw good luck on the admission process, and congratulations for yr admission to Erasmus University).
As to job prospects, I am certain, although I don't know the numbers, that most students find a job back home, or in some other countries (UK for instance), but not in Germany. If you are a foreign lawyer, the possibility of being hired by a law firm in Germany are scarce (unless you are American, or the law firm has some special interest in having a, say, chinese or indian lawyer). It is simpler to get a job in a bank. So it depends on what you are looking for, and where you come from, and if you can speak German.
On the other hand, it seems to me that so far the ILF students were successful in finding a good job in their home countries or somewhere else.

Hi,

yeah, i did. I paid 500 euros as an enrollment fee(10 % of the tuition). I am waiting for response from DAAD. I applied to some scholarship to cover my living expense. Though I got rejection from them yesterday, I appealed them. There was just some kind of maladministration: they failed to inform me about the date and place of the interview. I had no idea about the interview, I wasn't informed. They arguing that I did not include my phone number and email address in the application form. But I don't believe it can be the reason since it was possible to notify me through ordinary mail, moreover, I left the phone number and email address of my relative. Now I will see what their decision will be.

CAN YOU THROW some lighton the last year placements..did all students last year were sucessfully placed? can you tell me about a few?

4 weeks more or less.
They replied via e-mail. They are very well- organized and rather swift i might add.
Good luck with your application!

hey, thanks for asking. I am also still waiting what they will tell.... you should probably inform Erasmus that you are waiting for results from ILF if there is a deadline to confirm your enrollment at Erasmus.

hi,
my financial situation is a bit complicated. It should be fine, after all. I need to be a little persistent, that is it.
You might seem to be left in an unfortunate situation unless ILF responds soon. What I suggest you is that you should write a letter to Admissions' office of ILF, clearly explaining your situation and spurring them to move faster in processing your application. i believe they can influence somehow in speeding up because so far, as I know, there are about 15 students admitted, and they still need more people - probably even another 10-15. It would be a shame for them, if they lose a candidate, who has an excellent academic and professional background like you, just because of the slow process. You should try to write your letter in such a way that they have a feeling of pity towards your situation and at the same time you should show that you are a potential candidate with good experience. It might be a little repetition of what you wrote in motivation letter. There is nothing to be afraid, as you are simply making clear them your situation. It often works. You should do it quickly; you need to give them sometime also. In no way they can give results in 2-3 days, of course. But they can do something in 10-15 days. Good luck, buddy

Mr.Zok, Abishek, laura,

Hi guys. I have neen watching this thread and waiting to respond. Congrats Zok and I hope you solved out ur financial problems positively. Abishek, I too applied for ILF 2007-08 just 3 weeks back and awaiting for their response. Have u got any admission mail from ILF ?. Mean while I got an admission offer from Bucerius-WHU for MLB program and got exited.

In fact, I am interested in MLB program and want to confirm my admission but fearing about placement opportunities after the program? Can anybody advise me on this point?

Anybody who are now stuidng MLB at Bucerius law school can help me by throughing light on what all that the Mangement is doing (or tyring) to provide placements to all (or at least for some of) the participants of MLB program ?

Are job prospects good for MLB students? Will the Bucerius take the responsibility of providing job assistance to the candidates? If job prospects are good, what will be the pay scales (roughly, in Euros/Dollars/pounds)?
(this information will be helpful for me to convince my family and take a decision)

Can anybody help me, please.
