LLM in Law and Governance
Introduction - Governance and Sustainable Development The course is international in focus and taught by leading academics and practitioners. This innovative course is designed to meet a growing international need to produce postgraduate students with detailed knowledge of complex (multi-level) governance issues and excellent skills to work with transdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches. The course provides students with the necessary skill base to pursue and further their careers within corporations, NGOs and regulatory authorities and national and international legal professions. The interdisciplinary nature of the course, coupled with interaction with the research clusters on governance, regulation, environmental justice, and human rights already in existence at Queen's, provides students with relevant expertise. The course is taught within a directed learning framework through weekly seminars, which provide an overview on a particular area. Students gain broad and essential knowledge about governance and a set of skills to analyse governance at the regional, national, EU and international levels. These seminars offer a starting point for the completion of assessed essay questions. The second major method of testing is a dissertation, the exact subject of which is to be chosen in consultation with the Course Coordinator. There will be an opportunity to undertake a placement linked to the choice of dissertation. Duration Entrance Requirements Who is the course aimed at? Resources within the Law School: Course Outline:

Dear Dr. Doran - thank you for your prompt reply! I've already applied for the LLM - I'm an LLB undergraduate at Queen's right now :)

Is the LLM GUIDE used much by other students ? I am trying to gauge how useful it might be for further promotion of courses here at Queens

I can't say I've ever heard this site mentioned by any Queen's students, but if you look for general LLM information online you usually end up here. Tue Mar 20, 2007 05:27 PM My own decision to apply to Queen's for my LLM, and getting information about this specific programme, came about through the Law School's site and hearing a talk a few weeks ago given by Professor Morison and Dr. Maruna in an Equity lecture. Perhaps given the fact that the staff have easy access to final-year students through lectures and through our Queen's email accounts that using those forums might be the best option to promote programmes. However as it appears that as this site doesn't seem to require much to be done after initially setting things up - eg you can post information and then be informed when someone enquires - it's probably a useful tool to make some use of.
