Dear all,

I have been reading in this board for long time ago. I have read different opinions and approaches to the difficulties of getting a job in the US for International Students. To my experience, I can assert that it is really hard.

However, and starting out from the premise that there are no jobs for all international students, I think that LLM students may do things to increase the likelihood to get a job.

Big market better than small market?
As it was said in this board, UF is better ranked than Northwestern University as tax program. However, if I wanted to get a job I would pick NU over UF because the Chicago market and the networking of NU is way better than the one the UF can offer. If you attend UF you have to work out your schedule to set up an interview. At NU you may talk to the employer in the morning and interview with him the next day.

Law firms the only field available?
Another aspect it should be considered is that lawyers may find a job in many other different fields other than law/tax. I think that consulting firms or investment banks persistently seek people with surprising backgrounds to contribute with different approaches to their businesses.

After all, I think that you can narrow down everything on getting accepted in a top five university otherwise you are likely to get screened out by the HR departments of the companies.

This post was not an advice but a cocktail of ideas. Everybody is invited to give its standpoint.

Bests.
