When my freind graduated from Columbia in 2001, she said that that year since the economy was bad they had a problem. She says things may be different. If anyone knows people from LLM class of 2004 from Columbia or NYU it is best to ask them. Columbia's statistics on employment rates in the US for their outgoing students has been updated only till 2002 for NYU admitted students the CD sent with the admissions packet contains statistics for several years and that could be helpful. The NYU website for admitted students also allows us to request for alumni to contact us to answer our queries. If you want to work for international organizations such as UN, the VISA problem will be less a concern (as long as you are from an UN member state). However, I think organizations also perfer people with more experiences. Besides, some professors told me that competition for organization jobs are high too. But in general, if you do very well on your internatioanl law LLM (have some publications will be even better), getting a job from organizations should be not as hard as from law firms. These are just my personal opinions, please correct me or add something that you think I missed.
