Hello is anyone around?

This thread has been in silence for a long period of time.

This year I'm applying to Lund, and i can't wait to receive the results.

I had some questions that i would like to address to those who has been admitted to the master program at Lund University:
-first question, how do you guys finance your study? was it by scholarship, working, or other financial support?
-if you work, what kind of work do you do?
-if you applied for scholarship, is it enough to finance your study?

Need your help guys, since i'm seriously considering of going to Lund.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

The scholarship opportunity depends on your home country. When you are applying you'll see If you are eligible or not (if not you can not apply for the scholarship. E.g. students from the EU countries don't get scholarship).
I don't have a scholarship either and I am in a big trouble..... Financing your studies here is very difficult. If you don't speak Swedish it's quite impossible to find a good job, although there are some student jobs for international students, but for me it's not enough. So your family should help or you must be very lucky here! :-)

But if you get a scholarship, it's enough. I have to live from the half of the amount they get and I am still alive! :-))

If you have further questions feel free to contact me.

Hi Satine, thank you for your response...

Well my country is on the list for guest scholarship program and i applied for the program, but don't know why i feel a little bit pesimistic of getting a scholarship.

By the way, how does the teaching methods in Lund?is it good?do they offer some study trip or perhaps seminars at International institution ? Are you studying in the International Human Rights Law program?

Satine, what kind of jobs are available for international students?

So sorry if i asked too much and caused any inconvenience to you, since i'm totally blind about the situation at Lund.

I attend the International Human Rights LLM. In the first 1,5 semester we all have the same courses, the specialization starts this April. So I don't know much about the labour law.

I think we all like Lund, cuz it's a student city and Sweden is beautiful (but cold and dark as well). The Swedish education is a little weird for those who are used to other kind oif education, but If you are motivated enough It's a unique opportunity.

And about the financial problems see my prevoius reply.

Hi Everyone,

Satine, thank you for your response - I'll have to figure out a way to contain my nerves for the next two months of waiting to find out if I got in (but, as I can see from this board, you've been in that same boat, too!)

How many people are in the human rights program?

@arslanbilgi - there is some information about how much money people have to prove that they have in order to be admissible to Sweden. This is in the FAQ: "There are no tuition fees but international students must, however, be able to cover all living expenses, cost of literature, insurance, Student Union fee, etc. If you are a non-Nordic, non-EU/EEA citizen, you must provide documentation that show you have enough money to support yourself in order to get a residence permit for studies, which means having at least SEK 7,300 per month at disposal for the duration of the Master Programme studies."

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Hi,
Yes, the cost of living depend on your needs, but I guess the scholarship is around 7300 SEK. I live here from appr. 4000 SEK and , but its just food, accommodaton and the bus ticket.

In our class there are 40 students, but many (10-12) are Swedish undergraduate students.

I got my answer from the Uni on the 1st of May. Before that (email about acceptance) they don't answer any question, so don't try and do not wonder, it's a strange country with strange rules :-)

Hi everyone!!!

I am waiting for an answer in Lund University for the master in Human rights.
I could see here that all of you guys are very helpful and I will really appreciate any further information you could give me.
I would like to know how hard it is to get accepted in this programme.
Are there a lot of foreign students?
How well known and how good is this programme? What about job opportunities after this master studies?

I am sorry for all of these questions, but I am really anxious about all this and also very curious!!!

Does anybody here applied for this master this year?!!

Nice to meet you all!!! :)

Lot of people had the same questions (me too) in this discussion board. First, we don't know , how many people applied, so it's hard to estimate the chances and rates. In the programrme there are only international students, but Swedish students can join us during their "normal" degree progamme.
This master has an excellent reputation, and according to the webpage of the faculty every student had found a job since.

Thanks a lot satine!!!!

Are you a current student in Human Rights?
Did you need to have a lot of experience to be admited in this master?
And is it easy to find a job in Lund?

Again, sorry for all these questions!!!

I can't see the time to see the results for this master!!! It s very hard to wait for this long without any information from them!!!

I think you should read the whole thread, everybody had/have this questions, I answered lot of them some weeks before. And yes, I am a current student here. If you have further questions, of course I try to answer. I think you will have the answer from the uni at the end of April/beginning of May.

I've applied to the LLM in international human rights and labor rights program. I would love to get to know some people in that program and people who are applying to that program... :-). I am a student from Liberia, West Africa but is a USA Resident. I don't need TOEFL since I graduated from a university in the USA. Can some one tell me how many students are accepted into the program.
