Hello,
Anyone from Australia or studied in Australia? If so, I would be glad if you could give me your advise on something. I applied for 4different universities in Australia and all 4 accepted my application. Now I really don't know what to chose and I don't know any Australians, who could help me chose either.
I was accepted by the "University of New South Wales", "University of Sydney", "University of Queensland and the "University of Adelaide".
So far I prefer the University of New South Wales, cause I got the feeling studying at the University of Sydney might be not such a great experience of campus life. I heard the LLM-Program at the University of Sydney is one of the best, but the (law) campus is settled in the middle of the city and the courses mostly consists of already halftime working lawyers and other working people.
Even though I think it would be interesting to study with lawyers who have work experience, I'm worried that there will be no "student life" (actually I read an statement, in which the student who had undertake the LLM-Program at the University of Sydney described this scenario).

What is your opinion? Which one of the above Universities have the best reputation and which the best social life to offer?

Thank you for your advise! Regards

Phil

I am in pretty much the same situation as you are (well, at least almost). I've been accepted to USyd and UNSW....and don't know where to go (so I'm not a great help). I've heard that UNSW shall be much more international than USyd. This (probably) leads to a more intense campus life.

The reputation of UNSW and USyd shall be equal.

hm good to know. i think that UNSW would offer a better campus life, cause it is not located in the middle of the city and thus people would not separate directly after the lectures, but spend some time together.
but its just a thought. i would like to hear some experiences ;)
by the way - where are you from?

I'm from Germany and currently attending the compulsory 2 yrs. state-run program for lawyers (which is a prerequsite for qualifying as a lawyer in Germany after having completed the law degree at uni).

For professional reasons, USyd might be a bit better. However, beach and internationality definitely speak for UNSW.

Where are you from?

im from germany too ;)

surprise surprise hehe. i hope there wont be too many germans around, since i want to increase my language skills! i recently finished my first state exam.
dont you think the lack of internationality at the u of sydney might be a good thing? if they dont have such high numbers of international students it could be easier to connect to australian students?! on the other hand according to the UNSW law faculty website they just build a new law building and the faculty of law "leads all Australian universities for the quality of learning and teaching law."
sounds good to me! for what program did you apply? and when will you start? i applied for season 2 of 2007 and the LLM in "Media, Communications and Information Technology Law"
