I was offered but turned it down, I really don't want to live at the House, but I might join just to attend the chats and stuff. Does anyone know more about the activities that go on there?

Mine was a bit strange. I was accepted April 24 and required to reply by March 28. I assume they meant May. It didn't bother me because I accepted immediately. It is pretty hard to get in and is a fantastic place to stay. I wanted to go because I wanted to meet lots of types of people LLMS and other disciplines. I wanted to go somewhere where there was an established community. I had heard there are over 20 LLMs staying there. Also, if you don't like it, you can change to one of the Law faculty lottery apartments. I had heard its not that hard. I visited I-house many years ago and liked it. On the flip side one of my MBA friends said he hated it...

I am curious as to why you are hestitant in accepting the offer or why you don't want to stay at the House? Is there something I don't know??

I am curious too about the reasons for not joining! It seemed like a great place to live to me, and I also want to meet people with different backgrounds, not just LLMs..
Besides, the results from the lottery won't come out until mid-June...I have heard that you can be left without housing in the lottery, not so hardly...

I didn't live there but know people who have and loved it. It is a great place to meet people (especially people from other departments/schools) and get involved in activities. The area isn't so great which might be one reason for not living there. Also, you may be able to find somewhere cheaper. The rooms can be quite small (although no smaller than a room at home I imagine) and the building is old so could be a little run down. I thought it had heaps of character though and would definitely recommend it.

Hey,
I decided not to join because I want to live in an apartment by myself, because I plan to have guests over constantly. It seems that when you're going to NYC, suddenly everyone has to come visit!
Either way, I think that living in the I House is a great opportunity, and am considering joining just for the talks and seminars. :)

There will be enough seminars, talks etc going on outside of I-House. Trust me! I found that there was almost too much!

I think they ask you to send a hardcopy just in case there's a problem with the fax. What I did (as I was not sure that my hardcopy would arrive on time) was to send both a fax and an e-mail with a scanned copy of my application, and by the time they received my e-mail my application was "complete" (they send you a code so you can check your status on-line).
Anyway, I submitted the hardcopy anyway.. specially because of the photograph!
Hope it helps.
