This is directed primarily to those either currently at Cambridge or recently graduated, but all information is welcome.
1)what is the difference in length between the 'thesis option' for a paper and simply taking a seminar course which is graded by way of a thesis?
2)is it possible and /or advisable to take two seminar type courses, or is that too much work?

irishguy, how many people would you etimate are in each class at cambridge? By class i mean each subject, or paper. Obviously the number will vary a quite a bit between classes/papers, so i'm looking for ball park estimates here. Also, more specifically, how many were in restitution with you? Also, if you can estimate, how many would you say take the international type courses versus those taking the corporate type courses?
As always, your advice is appreciated. Good luck on the finals!

well done. let us know how the results pan out will ya? There must be lots of talk about grades, I should think. I asked you this before, I believe, but here goes again: what are the grades like at Cambridge? What percentage, roughly, in a class of thirty say would get a first, a 2:1, and 2:2, respectively?

you might be surpised at your results. My experience with law school exams is that people tend to do better than they think. Maybe this is because everyne does crappy but the proffs have to fit the results into some semblence of a curve, so the standard for a 2:1 isn't "very good" but rather "best of the crap"??lol

Irishguy 24,
I've been keeping up with your posts and I find them quite helpful. I read that Civil Liberties is a "yawn fest". What do you know about Family Law, Comparative Law, and Philosophy of Criminal Law?

Also, you mentioned in one of your posts that you don't think you failed any of your papers. Congrats, I hope you do really well. However, i'm curious....does anyone actually fail?

Thanks.

THANKS Irishguy!

Just to clarify, comparative law is a class where the method of grading is by thesis only. I guess Cambridge calls that a seminar course? Sorry, i'm not familiar with the vocab as of yet. I was planning on taking this "seminar" and writing a thesis for it. I know that thesis proposals are due within a few weeks of arriving at Cam. I was going to do the proposal before I arrived (in August after i've written the Florida bar examination). However, I'm not sure what the proposal is supposed to consist of. Do you know?

Also, as I mentioned before I want to take family law, comparative law (thesis), philosophy of crim law, and civil liberties. What is the liklihood that those classes will be offered next year? Would there be a timetable conflict between those classes? To be honest, there are only a few classes at Cam that would be of interest to me (i'm not into international law or corporate or intellecutal property) and thus would not attend if I could not take those classes.

By the way, i've been accepted by Hughes Hall. Do you know anything about that college?

Congrats on finishing the LLM!

Thanks again!

yup, undergrad and llb in the great white north (though that moniker somewhat innaplicable, since I studied on the west coast which is neither north nor white, though certainly it is great!).
any word on funding benny? Have you been practicing these last three years?

Hey, Irishguy, thank you very much for your info. You always give us some useful information! But, could you supply us with any information about the best pubs in Cambridge? And what about the parties? What's your reccommendation???? Do the best parties of Cambridge happen in London? In terms of parties, what is the best College of Cam?
Congratulations for your LLM!
Canadians: Sorry for interrupting you, but the questions above are very important!
