TOURO Law school
Hi,Mon Aug 20, 2007 07:24 PM I m interested in pursuing LL.M from Touro college. I have done my LL.B from India and I also have one and a half years experience working in an NGO. After reading about all the top law schools and colleges in NY, I was a bit doubtful about taking up LL.M from Touro. Since you are already there, I would like to know about your experience of Touro college. Is it worth spending money ? Why did you choose Touro, when most of the people are going for NYU, CLS, Fordham and such other top colleges ? Please reply to my questions. I m really interested in taking up law, but looking at the high cost of studies, i sometimes doubt my decision. I would really appreciate a line of reply from you, before I invest my hard-earned money and end up in a mess. |

TOURO Law school
Sorry for being so late, anywayWed Aug 22, 2007 06:09 PM Well, I thought about TOURO because I heard that there wasn’t so many student there, and as English is not my 1st language even if you pass the TOEFL, you have to be aware that things go fast. So I wanted to be surrounded and I am, I can assure you that !!! TOURO College is a small university therefore you are practically certain to know everybody in the school and it is useful. Then, the most important in my opinion is the fact that the international students for the LLM section represent maximum 30 students, in this context, they I mean the board of the school and the professors, are focus on each students needs. Another important point , and I’m not sure there’s the same thing in others universities : they designed 2 courses specifically for the foreign lawyers. They want to give to the foreign lawyers the american legal tools for the case and so one in order to face the mechanisms of the legal system. Not only an introduction to the American legal system but also a tutorial for the writing. I hope I answered to your questions, if you have more question feel free to send me an email. I will be happy to give you more details if I can… |

Dear Happy Days,Wed Aug 22, 2007 07:57 PM Thank you so much for your reply. I still have some more questions to ask you about TOURO. I hope you will reply them too :-) Is TOURO college very selective in giving admissions?Does it offer any kind of scholarhips ? Are those scholarships very competitive ? If I am a forein student, and instead of studying LLM course degsigned specially for international students, if I want to study LLM in Corporate Law, will that be possible ? Or I can only get admission in the courses designed specially for foreign students ? What are the job opportunities for TOURO graduates ? Pls Pls Pls Pls Pls reply, its very important !!! I have to start applying to different law schools from next month. Thanks in advance,. [Edited 22 Aug 2007 by sshukla] |

Touro is not a very highly ranked law school. While the program might be good educationally speaking, from an employment perspecive I suspect that the opportunities are lacking. Students from NYU and Columbia have a hard enough time finding jobs, imagine how hard it must be coming from a school with a reputation that is much much lower.
