Hi, is there any point in me applying for a Cambridge LLM with a 2.1 from UCL? It was a high 2.1 (we weren't given an overall degree mark but the average mark for my 5 highest modules over the last two years, out of 10 modules, was 69%)Sun Jun 24, 2007 05:57 PM I know that Cambridge normally asks for a first but as its from a top 5 uni and a high 2.1 does that make any difference? I really want to apply if I've got a fighting chance! [Edited 24 Jun 2007 by Dreamer85] |

you could start with learning the spelling of Cambridge.

Yes I was waiting for that one - unfortunately this forum doesn't seem to allow you to change thread titles so I couldn't get rid of this deplorable typo. Very helpful comment.

LOL...every one makes that mistake. I was just pulling your leg. I dont know if i am the right person to answer your query, (I did not get through cambridge, got into LSE and UCL) but I have heard that most of the students who are considered usually have more than 67%. In my opinion you should be easily able to get through. Plus if you have good extracurricular, then definitely you will. Good luck to you. btw.. I have decided to take up the offer from LSE.

I think that Cambridge has gotten more academically competitive in recent years. I know that Oxbridge students are regularly let in on a 2:1 and I do know of others who have to. I would say that you have a reasonable chance of getting offered a place with a 67% plus from UCL but I would also advise applying to some safety schools or if for some reason you are hell bent on the Cambridge experience looking at different courses such as criminlogy where I think (but I may be wrong) that a 2:1 would suffice
