Maritime Law for oldies
I am considering an LLM in Maritime Law next year (2008). At that time I'll be 33. I have a law degree from the University of Oslo, and 6 years of work experience (government/law firm) in Norway. I'd be pleased if LLM students or staff from universities offering LLM in Maritime Law could present a brief student profile from their respective universities. I guess most students are under 30. I am also interested in general opinions on Maritime Law LLM's in UK and elsewhere, especially Swansea, Southampton, London (City, UCL, Met), Tulane, Malta (IMLI) and Oslo. I have taken courses in Admiralty and Carriage of goods in Southampton as exchange student on bachelor level, but I think that life is too short to spend more time in Sothampton and Oslo.

Maritime Law for oldies
Hi. I am a 36 year old dual Australian and English qualified solicitor living in Bergen, Norway with my wife. I have been unable to find professional work here (despite speaking reasonable Norwegian). I am going to apply for the LLM in Maritime Law at the University of Oslo starting Sep 2008. From my on-line research and looking at the posts on this site, I believe that Oslo and Southampton Universities have the best/most prestigious LLM Shipping Law programmes. It also influences my decision that there are no tuition fees at Oslo for Norwegian citizens and permanent residents and an LLM at Southampton seems to cost about £4,000 - and there being no direct flights from Bergen to Southampton! Hope these very basic views might help a little. Finally have you got any brief comments on student life at Oslo Uni and student accommodation there?
