I'm sorry that this doesn't relate to an llm, but i figure that those who read this should be in a pretty good position to give some advice.

I'm a third year law student at the university of queensland, but I intend to move to Melbourne as soon as I graduate and practice there - I'm from there originally.

I'm debating whether I should attempt to transfer to Monash university to complete my law degree there - what will a Melbourne employer favour. I was assuming it would be the Melbourne degree - although at this stage I should graduate with honours from UQ. Also, if I finish my degree here (UQ), am I likely to encounter difficulty in getting a job in Melbourne. Also, are there likely to be difficulties in getting a summer clerkship based on the uni? Any help would be really appreciated!

Gday.

I am studying LLB/BCom at UQ as well, and some of my friends tried to transfer to melbourne to continue their LLB there. They were unable to gain credit for their degree at UMelb, so maybe this is the same for Monash?

In that case, I imagine you wouldn't want to waste your 3 years of study at UQ! I would email Monash and find out if you can get credit there. However, in terms of 'prestige' or what employers prefer, UQ Law is a bit ahead of Monash.

Hope that helps :)
