When looking at all guides, do be aware that the entry requirements list and the graduate prospects list relate to undergraduate performance only.

Imwoods im shocked.
at your attempt to segregate the graduate programme and the undergraduate programme and deem them somewhat mutually exclusive.
if you understand the nature of how most if not all law faculties work you would not reach this conclusion.

human capital and resources remain the same. if not more would be channeled to post grad research.
prof - student rapport is usually non existent in most undergrad law progs.
no one wants to spend their time lecturing about ratio decidendi when there are more pressing problems to be rationalised.

the above post is at once peculiar and non-responsive.
llwoods is simply highlighting for the benefit of us all that a disctinction exists.

I should add, however, that rankings are a little goofy. Would anybody in their right mind pass up on Oxford for Aberdeen?

I was shocked by the high number of Scottish universities towards the top of the table, maybe it's a southern bias on my part.

For the most part, the top-ranked law schools remain the same year after year. Cambridge, Oxford, UCL and LSE.
Univ. Aberdeen is for me big suprise.

Personally I'm much pleased by this ranking with UCL at the second place,higher than Oxford for which I don't even have the guts to apply,and than LSE by which I'm rejected .It would give great comfort to my near 70 years old dad ,who sponsors all my expenses at UCL.
Who knows? If Aberdeen keeps staying in top 3 for the next ten years,perhaps the haunting question that the future LLM applicats will ask is going to be " UCL/LSE/Aberdeen where should I go"

Hello, I have gained acceptance into the University of Leicester, Leeds, as well as Aberdeen. Do you think that Aberdeen is that much better than both of those schools? I am currently a US student looking to study in the UK; and I wish to either find a job in the US or the UK. If you could please rank these three schools in order with that in mind I would appreciate it! I am very conflicted about this decision. Set on Leicester right now, but willing to change. What is your opinion of that school?

I have made the point elsewhere that the views of national newspapers on the quality of various institutions are not the final word as to that institution's status. The fact that the newspapers disagree amongst themselves shows that different factors may be taken into account or weighted differently. Further, from year to year there are sometimes surprising changes. It is also possible that some universities play the systems better than others. This is why when I see people agonising about whether to go to one institution which a private profit seeking company which no especial expertise in education or research states is better than others or to a different institution which has a good staff-student ratio and facilties; teaches the areas the applicant is interested in and has knowledgeable staff, I get quite frustrated. To me, if you want to enjoy your study, do something that you are interested in. You are more likely to get good marks in any event and it is your good marks rather than an institutional label that will get you a job. That, at least, has been my experience here in the UK.

i apologise if i am misunderstood. sometimes i do appear slightly off tangent, if not the words i speak.
having said that I am one who has rejected a cantab education for one in UCL for reasons which are specific to the specialisation i am seeking.
i do have a training contract with A&O and I do intend on going corporate i believe that I will, with enough passion and motivation, get the most out of my one year in ucl.
my 2 cents worth : dont believe in rankings but they do count for something.A distinction exists but thats a given. Graduate research is certainly valued more than relating the principles of nemo dat. You dont need to be an idiot to know that. Overstating the obvious on the other hand is peculiar and non responsive.
Undermining the credibility of the ranking system trivialises the work thats being undertaken to formulate them. Lets not get ahead of ourselves.
I might have gone off tangent again but I do have a point. Which ultimately boils down to the value of an llm . Im sure guardian and times are not ignorant.

Rankings are often weird. One year X University is 4-5th, next year this same university is 12-13th.

I think that rankings should be regarded over time. To that extend, Cambridge, Oxford, UCL and LSE are always in the top five.

In other terms, if you go to another university which has performed very well this year, you could have a bad surprise next year.

I was shocked!! Brunel is 20th??? it's not impossible!!
totally conflict with gurdian....
However, I got accepted by Aberdeen this year and they want me to start in Jan. So, i choose Exeter instead because I dont have much choice. At that time, I think Exeter is the best place among westminster and brunel.. From now on I have to think about it again -_-"
