Hello,

I am a Canadian who hold a BA in Political Science and an MA in International Policy& Diplomacy. I have worked for a few years as a Policy Advisor and I am looking at the University of London External Program-LLM Public International Law degree. Could anyone tell me how useful this LLM would be seeing as has not been studied in the 'traditional sense'. My intent, once having been accepted and obtaining this degree, is to work for an international organization, one based in Switzerland--such as the United Nations.

I think based on my credentials, with the LLM completed, it should be a wise move. However, I wanted to know if it does have credibility in the reputable job market and, if the degree states 'University of London' or 'University of London External Program' ???

I'm not trying to be mean here but do you think maybe there maybe something wrong with this sentence? Something that may call your degree in 'International Policy & Diplomacy' into question? I'm sure it's only a syntax error but it's still funny.

Chillout, pedant.

From what I have gathered, competition for places at such organisations is intense. I think most people move laterally from senior positions in politics or law, as you seem to be doing. So further study, it would seem, would help you to secure a place. The issue then is whether the size of advantage outweighs the cost of the degree. I'm afraid I do not know much about the degree so cannot help you there.
