Summer Program
Is anyone planning to attend a summer program? I am, and the choice is between UC Davis and Michigan. Anyone knows anything about these programs, or would someone recommend any other programs?

Re: Summer Program
I am attending the summer program of columbia university that will be held in amsterdam. It is mainly about introduction to american law with some commercial law courses as well.Tue Apr 12, 2005 04:41 PM I was also accepted to the cornell course held in paris on comparative law but turned it down when acceptance came from the columbia course. Why? 1-columbia university 2-more interesting courses 3-Amsterdam!!! |

Re: Summer Program
I was there last year. Tue Apr 12, 2005 05:08 PM Is still Moglen the director? His lectures about internet law are an extraordinary opportunity to open your mind. CSP is a great experience. No doubt go for CSP if u have to make a decision. Gian |

Re: Re: Summer Program
Tue Apr 12, 2005 05:49 PM I was there last year. Yes he is... I chose the internet law class and what you say relieves me because I had difficulty choosing between contracts or internet law. I thought contracts course was of a far too extensive course, a course that could not be covered in one month. So I thought well I'll buy the book and do the reading myself:) Which classes did you take? My other two selectives are corporations and international bussiness transactions. Any comment on those classes will also be greatly appreciated.. thanks |

Re: Summer Program
You surely did thanks a lot. Fri Apr 15, 2005 12:33 AM I was actually thinking of changing the corporations class with contracts (because instead of pursueing a career in corporate law I am now planning to specialize in dispute resolution) |

Re: Summer Program
Hi Shou:Fri Apr 15, 2005 08:18 PM I am also in the same shoe as yours. My colleagues went to Davis program and told me that it was great! The final week in Berkley makes it more interesting. However, Michigan on the other hand offers longer course (six weeks) at the lower cost. Anyone please help figure this out |

Re: Summer Program
Chris:Sun Apr 17, 2005 03:15 PM As far as I know, Davis focuses on American law and Michigan focuses on Legal English. Therefore, if you have enough capability in English, I suppose you might find Michigan's program somewhat boring. My friend says that's the reason why almost all the participants at Michigan are Asian guys, while Davis has many Europeans. As for me, I have decided to attend Michigan. |

Re: Summer Program
Shou: I have to admit that my english capability is not good. However, I think it would be great to be surrounded by friends from European countries. It might be the fastest way to improve my english skill. My friend who is now at Michigan also told me the same thing that most attendees of Michigan program came from Asian countries. Sun Apr 17, 2005 07:15 PM So, in case you will not change your mind, see you in Cambridge in august. Larsen: Thank you for your confirmation of how good the Davis program is. I truely appreciate it. Sonya: I was interested in the Foundation' program of Georgetown too. When I emailed GULC's admission office to turn down their offer of admission, I also asked whether I could join the program. They answered me that the program is intentionally for GULC students or those supported by Fullbright only. So, it is impossible for me to join the program. Seemingly, you are going to CLS this fall so you must be sponsored by Fullbright, right? |

Re: Summer Program
Right Chris! I got a Fulbright scholarship from my home country, and they assign lawyers to a preacademic program of their choice, they chose the Georgetown program for me, and I´m happy to be going there as I´ve heard the course is very useful and I hope entertaining as well! :)
