Three of them are interesting, but I’m wondering which one is the best (research quality, Graduate Prospects, employment, student life, location (city) ………. etc.

My god!!Sun Oct 07, 2007 11:31 PM Go Durham... There is no camparison between them. I may say Durham is even better than Oxbridge in Intl Commerce Law. They have an entire institute for this branch. Cheers, RCL [Edited 07 Oct 2007 by Rafael Lima] |

Dear Rafael LimaMon Oct 08, 2007 12:03 AM Thank you very much for your advice, but I made a mistake….. It’s LLM international trade & commercial law at Durham; but I think that is not very important, isn’t it? Can u tell me why do u think that Durham is really better than the other universities? Have u been there? Do u know anyone who have been there? Many thanks |

Hey man,Mon Oct 08, 2007 12:58 AM Do not worry! This is the LLM in Durham. I have answered your post thinking on it. Your mistake wasn´t realy important. Regarding your question, I realy believe that Durham is much better than the others. There are many reasons for it: (i)They have an entire institute for the LL.M. students; (ii) they are an ancient University with hundreds years of experience; (iii) they have a collegiate environment, similar to Oxbridge; (iv) according to the Times they have the third better Law Department in the UK, (v) employees like Durham graduates. Also, you must consider once the topic is International Trade and Commercial Law, their name become even stronger. You will be in the best university for it!! In addition you should know that Durham is a very small city, so the life cost is much smaller than Manchester and Nothingham. But it is very near Newcastle, so you will be able to enjoy a big city. Of course, Manchester and Nothingham are amazing, but Durham is definetly times and times better, for this specific branch. Finally, I am saying this becouse I lived in Cambridge all this year and I had applied for some LL.Ms in International Trade and Business in the Uk. I got an offer from Durham, but I couldn´t accept it for this academic year due to problems in getting scholarships here in my country, so I refered it to the 2008/2009 academic year. Good Luck in your option. Cheers, RCL [Edited 08 Oct 2007 by Rafael Lima] |

What is Durham LLM worth??
Hi, Sat Nov 24, 2007 08:52 PM Durham Law department is very highly regarded in UK. Does that also mean LL.M. quality and employment perspectives for LLM graduates are also high (regarding the fact, that LL.M. at universities is usually "smth extra we provide" rather than "it is main thing we do")? To Rafael Lima, I don't mean to dampen the mood, but Durham is NOT and ancient university. It was founded in 1832. To qualify to be an ancient university you would have had to have been founded before 1600. The University of Dublin, commonly called Trinity College, was the last recognised ancient university in existence, and it was founded in 1592. To Fai, Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not Durham bashing, given the choice you have between the other 2 schools and Durham, you should definitely go with Durham. |

we just finished our michaelmas term in durham. i assure you that it's definitely worth to it come here. the city is small (but fantastic!) and we all get smashed (i.e. drunk) every night.Mon Dec 10, 2007 03:56 AM whether you are for a highly-regarded university and/or a "fun" place, durham is the place to be. besides, you get to live on a very reasonable budget. for instance, i drink a lot but i only spend 500pounds max per month for everything. is that possible in london? :-) some of my mates, survive on a 200-pound budget. i don't know how that can be done but some people here do it..... just my two cents' worth guys... |

Hi everybody…..Sun Dec 30, 2007 10:05 PM I deferred my offer to study LLM at Durham to next year 2008/2009, and really happy to hear that Durham is a wonderful place to study, but I would like to ask mtz94 When you say 500 £ per month, do you mean for every thing (accommodation, food, books, transport …etc)? Giovanni & mtz94 thank u for the advice but I would be thankful if u could give me some details about Durham (courses, costs, weather…… ) I am really worried about my English Many thanks [Edited 02 Jan 2008 by Fai] |

Thu Jan 03, 2008 12:59 PM hi everybody, i've got offers to read for llm international commercial law at Durham, international business law at manchester, international trade & commercial law at nottingham....... so what do you think? which one should i take???! i need your advice I'd say Manchester. It has a huge faculty, while Durham is fairly small. Manchester has also become a 'super university' and is aiming to achieve very high international status. Nottingham is probably the best in terms of reputation, and will be the hardest to get into out of the three. |

"Nottingham is probably the best in terms of reputation, and will be the hardest to get into out of the three."Sun Feb 03, 2008 03:57 AM - I don't think this is a serious comment... Nottingham is a good university but I know it's so easy to go in relative to Durham and the rest! |
