Hi! Request if someone could please take a minute and guide me on my application to LSE '08 (Banking and Financial Regulation). My broad profile is that I hold a high 2nd class LLB degee from a reputed Indian University and have additional 3 years of work experience with an Amercian Bank. Would my work experience help in by-passing the 2nd class LLB degree? Also, do Indian students need to sit for TOEFL? Would appreciate guidance on this. Disclaimer - I might trouble you with more queries. Thanks.

Hi Simz,

I applied for the LSE '07 (Commercial & Corporate Law) LLM, and I had an upper 2nd class LL.B from Kenya and I was offered a place for the course. I think the most important aspect of your application ought to be your personal statement, you need to demonstrate how the work experience has contributed to your abilities and how it will prove useful in your study for the LL.M. The personal statement also gives you an opportunity to state your strengths which may not necessarily been captured by the 2nd class degree. Hope this helps. All the best.

I agree. I applied with a 3rd class honours degree and was offered a place + a merit scholarship. I also have four years' work experience in legal academia (I think this helped) and have also nearly completed an LL.M. in Australia.

Cheers
