Dear saintsteve,

Lund university is obviously a good choice for their HR program and I would further recommend the University of Essex program as well. If you are looking at university in northern europe with lower fees, then also worth a look would probably by the human rights institute, at Ĺbo Akademi University (Finland) (www.abo.fi/instut/imr). They run a two-year program in IHRL. Its a M.Sc. instead of an LL.M. only for administrative reasons (the finnish government is very specific about LL.M. degrees and require a certain degree of domestic law related courses, and the program consists solely of international human rights courses). I'd contact the institute first and see whether the Masters program is appropriate for your needs, or whether you should complete another type of study program (e.g. year of research).

However I'd also recommend having a look at doing an LL.M. at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy. They do, and will be offering several courses with a IHRL bias, and can most definitely be considered advanced.

Hope this helped. I'm sure there are several other programs which I failed to mention, but this is my five cents.

Good luck!

Also check out the human rights program at the University of Oslo. Unfortunately the deadline was December 1st, so if you are applying for this cycle you just missed it.
