Baby Ruth, Your concern is really everyones because by now (May) the selected individuals should have been preparing themselves viz winding down whatever they are doing in their respective countries. It would have been better if people were e-mailed and were told at what stage the proceedings have reached. I guess just keep the faith and keep waiting.

Hi ppl, Sat May 07, 2005 06:53 PM I'm not sure I understand the guys at Pretoria. I wrote them recently so I'm waiting for any updates. I've already accepted another offer for an LLM in the US cos I'm not sure when U of P will give us some news. My pal who went there a couple of sessions ago had to up and leave without too many 'goodbyes' cos his summons unto the program was rather abrupt. I hope that doesn't happen this time. If anyone can call them and ask what's up, ... sure we'd all appreciate it. Cheers |

Re: pretoria Investment Law
It is amazing the kind of harm we do to ourselves in Africa! Even straight forward matters like informing people whether they have been accepted to a programme or not becomes the stuff of rocket science! What's wrong with telling people the status of their applications with a proviso that the acceptance is dependant on donor funding? Isn't this NORMAL procedure. Now look people like Hyugo have accepted other offers! How many others will follow the same path?

Hello Peeps,Mon May 09, 2005 01:35 PM I feel you! However, I dont believe the folks in Pretoria are unleashing the suspense just for fun. They must be under intense pressure sourcing for funds, assessing applications from all over Africa and what have you! Hyugo has a point there; someone shd place a call and let us find out what is really going... And Hyugo, if you ever get a response to your email, please share the gist |

Fri May 13, 2005 01:12 PM Hi guys, nice site and hyugo, u appear to be a regular - u re the guy headed to LSU in the US right? On the Pretoria LLM, well the info is that the school has already made provisional offers to succesful candidates but the offers are totally dependent on the availability of funding. Depending on funding and the number of people who accept, they MAY still be able to make fresh offers to other people if some of the present offerrees fail to accept. That may be the reason for their failure to communicate to everyone yet. BUT!!! The 3rd paragraph is totally my own theory! I dont have inside info on why they havent communicated to everyone! Good luck in your Studies guys! |

Hi All,Sun May 15, 2005 04:41 PM The whole scheme at Pretoria's interesting. I believe (from info around) that Harry's right. I actually do know 2 ppl who have received admission into the program. I heard that they received a lot less than they were expecting from the WTO budget and therefore the no. they'll admit this year's goin to be really low. Be that as it may, there's always still a possibility that Harry's theory above is substantially what's going on. It's the only reasonable thing they can actually do under the circumstances. Best of Luck ppl |

Re: pretoria Investment Law
There we go again. We are in a theatre and the suspense and tension emanating from the Big Screen of Pretoria has ceased to be appealing and worth sitting on the edge of the seat for. The managers running this programme have been found to be seriously wanting. I can hazard a guess that this is why even the funding is proving hard to access. God help Africa!

Re: pretoria Investment Law
this is one of the few LLM programmes that really interest me. as a canadian i was just wondering whether african applicants were given priority over others...i noticed on the pdf brochure that only two non-african countries were represented...thanks
