Congrats to all our accepted fellows!

Lots of acceptances and deferrals... but any rejections?

Just wondering if the deferrals are not simply "early rejections" that will be having a second chance.

BTW, I was deferred.

However for those who received the acceptance email, I understand that the real deadline of filing the "Initial Deposit Form" is April 1. Could you confirm that ?

llmer, the email provides as follows:

"[...] please take the following steps to hold your place in Penn Law's LLM class:
First, within 30 days after the date of your e-mailed notice of admissions, or by April 1, whichever is later [...]"
My email is dated February 7th 2008 so I shall accept the offer on or before March 8th 2008.

Miki, it means that you may secure your place no later than April 1, a deadline applicable even to those who will only get their admission/rejection notice by March 1. It just means they want to hear from us no later than April 1, even if some of us may hear from them after March 1. This is good, as it allows us to ponder pretty much every option out there, in case we get admitted somewhere else we may also be interested in.
By the way, congrats for getting in. I'm in also. A nice way to use my first post :)

Can someone share his experience about Upenn Law School and how is the life in Philly...

Tomi, I heard that a handful of people in my country were notified of their rejection yesterday and today. I do not think the Penn Law is only sending out the admission and deferral during this cycle.

My application was delivered on December 21, 2007 to the Penn Law admissions office, and I have not received any email as of now. Would this mean that my application is considered to be deferred for next cycle, though my application is not for the early action?

Are there someone like me still waiting for the notice, whose application is submitted sometime similar with mine?

My application was also deferred to the normal pool.

Better than rejection, but I was so disappointed.

I wrote to UPenn yesterday, and was told that that the school will make offers of financial assistance either at the end of February or later.

"After careful consideration of your application and supporting documents, the International Programs Committee has concluded that it will not be possible to admit you for post-graduate legal study at Penn Law. Competition for the LL.M. Program is very keen and the Committee admits only a few select applicants each year.

We appreciate the interest you have shown in this program and regret that we could not take favorable action upon your application. Unfortunately, Law School policy does not permit us to revisit individual applications or the basis of the Committee's evaluation of them.

I am certain that your past achievements and future promise will continue to lead you to success. We wish you success in your future endeavors in legal education.

Sincerely,"
