My acceptance e-mail begins as follows:

"I write to offer my personal congratulations upon your acceptance into the University of Pennsylvania LLM Class of 2009.

Along with the International Programs Committee, I had the privilege of reviewing your file prior to its approval. This year's applicant pool was among the largest and most talented we have ever seen since Penn Law began an LLM program for foreign-trained lawyers in the 19th century. The accomplishments you presented to us were, even in the context of that group, highly impressive".

I am in the regular pool so have heard nothing from Penn so far. However, I have the hunch that most people admitted to Penn Law in the early review cycle probably will reject its admission eventually because these people are also very likely to receive admissions from other schools that they might prefer to Penn (e.g. Harvard, Stanford...). There should be seats available...

My application was deferred to the normal pool. Keeping fingers crossed

That's my case. I have already sent an email to Upenn refusing the offer in order to enable another applicant to benefit from my spot asap.

To gppinheiro and Brazil_2008,
I want to thank you personally and on behalf of all those applicants deferred to the regular pool and waiting for a decision!! Your attitude should be a paradigm to be copied for all the others already admitted students that have decided to reject their acceptance! As far as I am concerned, I have also rejected GW’s and UVA’s offer hoping other applicants benefit from my rejections. Good luck to all of us guys!

My colleague, who applied for the early action, has not received anything from Upenn yet. So don't worry, no news is good news!

Good luck!

Hi everyone,

For those, who are still waiting to hear from Upenn.
I have just received an email advertising Wharton Certificate to be added to LLM program, besides I haven't received any feedback with regard to my application yet.
It says at the bottom, that its a marketing email, so I think no action is necessary.

Has anyone of you received the same Wharton email? Any thoughts?

Cheers!

I receive it as well....
I don't think there is any link between this email and the selection process since I was admitted February 7th 2008.

Ciao

I have received it as well and I have already been accepted to Penn's LLM. I doubt receiving that Wharton e-mail means anything regardind your chances to be admitted into Penn.
For those of you who have already been accepted - and who are also considering some other top schools like Yale, Harvard, Stanford, and so forth -, would this certificate propel you to prefer Penn over any of those? I know it's probably too early to make such a choice (especially because those schools will only reply during March), but the deadline for the Wharton Business and Law program is March 15.

Hello there all,

It's already February 21st and still no word from Penn. I'm very inclined to panic right now, and I think I should. The delay CAN'T be a good sign. Unless there are others here who were fretting about receiving a reply, and are still awaiting their fates as well?

I would greatly appreciate it if those who are still waiting (as of Feb 21st) could send word as soon as something reaches their inbox..

Thank you.

Has anyone been admitted to the new "Wharton Business and Law Certificate"? When did you find out?

Apparently, they changed the admission process with respect to the Wharton Certificate. As I understood, the application procedure is independent from the general LLM admission and has not begun yet.

Hey, VA! I got deferred, too! Anyway, I had pretty much decided for Georgetown's Tax program. I'm sure that if I got into UPenn, the indecision will kill me. Right now, it just smarts on the ego a little bit, but all's well.

Congratulations to all who got in! UPenn is such a great school and I can't say I don't envy you guys! Those who got deferred, I was thinking that the chances are still pretty high because that means that they must have decided to give a 2nd, or 3rd look. Maybe something just didn't quite fit into their "criteria" of what's good or not (like being in a top nth % of the batch), but it appeared like there was something quite interesting about you that they can't quite put a finger on.

For those who got rejected, well, there are other great schools, too! Actually there are so many great schools that I envy everyone who got into all of them (e.g. Northwestern, NYU, Columbia, etc).

I do find it a little bit strange that UPenn would send us all these marketing emails...suddenly, we're in the mailing pool for ads! I appreciate getting correspondences..but it turns me off a little.

Penn over Duke, no doubt! Not that Duke isn't a good school, but that Wharton Business tie up makes me drool!
